You say? I thought they were aiming for 60fps in single player as well. If it will be around 35-45 fps then I say why even bother? I would rather have a locked 30fps without a single frame dropped without any screen tear (which unlocked framerate will cause).

But locking it in 30 will still have occasional dips. No game is actually 30 constantly, its just "how rare" it dips that most care about when one speaks about "locked". Without a single frame drop is pretty much impossible unless you're making Pong or Tetris maybe XD

The chief editor of GR said that the game will never dip below 35. And I believe it's "varied 30" according to GG. So yeah.. 35-45ish? If you've played any GoW game, that's how it is. I'm sure they made the decision based on the fact that it didn't feel jarring. In short: I'm sure it doesn't jump constantly.

Have faith in GG! They're one of the first party wizards ^^

Well if he says that it never dips below 35fps, and GG would not change anything just lock at 30fps it would never dip, cause the game would potentially run 5 to 15 frames more constantly. That would be wasting power of course but no dips at all.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

You have to take into consideration that he doesn't exactly have a tool to see the frames, it's purely based off his own feel for it which ties in what I mentioned earlier. There's really no such thing as a locked framerate. During some moment, it could dip but it could be less noticable if the dip is made at a higher framerate and dropped barely. So going from say 45 to 40 isn't as noticable as going from 30 to 25. Locking it to 30 doesn't necessarily ensure that it will stay 30 at all times even if the logical way of reasoning would strengthen that theory."If it can do 45 and go down to 35, why not just keep 30 at all times". It doesn't work quite like that. Clearly the dips that are made are not high enough to break a feeling that is above 35 according to the editor which is great really.

Take a look at many games this generation that had locked 30 but dropped anyway. Hell its always better to target somewhat higher just to be safe. Take a look at the recent Dead Rising 3 which drops to 20ish.

The human eye can't really tell anything higher than 60, so if you manage to stay close to it without dropping severely, left and right: It technically is ideal.

Also do keep in mind that GG had 30 planned at first but they changed it.
