Forums - Microsoft - Digital Foundry vs. Dead Rising 3

DF went to a full damage control to please the "resolutionists".

It´s amazing that the GOTY so far, GTA-V, has terrible stream issues, none AA, atroxious loading times, however a much more mature developer with 6 games and 8 years of experience with the current hardware could do.

Of course this game is not a visual benchmark. It´s a open world sandbox for a new console. Look at Dead Rising 1, it was terrible, Dead Rising 2 was a reasonable improviment, but noting visually compeling.

Of course it was rushed. DR3 will get a TON of patchs and fixes.

I don´t think fans of the series would be concerned

stop.

Making.

SENSE!!!

Things like very problematic framerates and texture pop in are extremely obvious to anyone, regardless of their intent to buy, that is my point, wether or not someone is actually going to buy this game does not change the severity of said games problems.

...but people who wasn't interested in this game from the very beginning are bashing it. I'm not saying they can't critisize it, but of course. But they're bashing it. Just for the sake of it.

If something i genuinely bad, theres no reason why it shouldnt be bashed, regardless of their intent, theres no point sugar coating it, if people get offended by the bashing it should be the developers that did a poor job, and the publishers that rushed them they should be upset with, for pushing out a product in a state that it can so easilly be bashed.

theyre bashing the framerate "for the sake of bashing", but regardless of their real reasoning for bashing it, its a valid reason regardless - at least they are not bashing it for completely arbitrary issues that dont really impact the game.

Its all very well saying things like "resolution isnt as important as long as the games fun", but to me drops as low as 10fps isnt something i would regard as fun - its for that very reason i waited for the pc release of GTA4 before i played through it because playing it on my PS4 felt terrible, and those framerates arent even as bad as the consistent drops being seen here.

What about the folks with intentions of buying it that share those sentiments? Of course (and this goes back to my theory), you don't know who's buying what. That is why that angle is pointless to take.

Watching the argument, I believe it all has to do with Wright's disappointment that the game did not gather all that attention due to its features, whether they are good or bad. It is being utilised to fuel the fires of war, mostly so by people who had never expressed any interest to it.

It's true I believe, as I have also never touched a DR game, yet was intrigued by the content of the thread. I also need to gather as much info as possible before making any purchase.

Bottom line is, such news are useful in chipping in on someone's info bag, yet it is a shame to witness a favourite (and perhaps really good) game, being used in this manner.

His disappointment isn't the issue. Whether the people who are complaining are for/against the game, fact remains that many are disappointed who were interested in picking it up. My only annoycance came from saying who's interested/who isn't, that doesn't mean I don't get where the frustration of ragging on the game comes from.

The jist.

I get your point, I just feel it has little to do with the game itself. I've seen no other aspects of the game being discussed, rather than it being used as an extra point on the PS4 Vs X1 launch basketball game.

Of course, as I'd stated in other posts, people have the right to make an informed purchase (be it game or console) and every little bit of info counts.

I would agree with you if everyone was bringing up the PS4, but theyre not, most people are focusing on the problems, and given how bad they are, isnt that natural?

I do agree with you, only now it's "scoring time" for the "PS4 team". (see the basketball game analogy I've made above). I'll ask you this: If some "bad" news come around, about a PS4 game or feature, will it not be used by the "X1 team" in this unreal game to score a point trying to reach a nonsense victory? I believe it will and I deem such news are treated thusly by most.

That does not mean that there are not people here that offer solid arguments, or make very sensible points. Far from it. Please see above, criticism is necessary. A cinsumer must be as informed as possible, before spending money.

The gameplay has been discussed. People think it looks fun. That doesn't change what the topic is about, which is the tech inside. So no, you're aren't getting the point.

I suppose "fun" is not enough to describe a game's features, but anyway... I'll ask you this: Don't you think that DR3's frame rate issue is being used as ammo in the console wars by most? Not by everyone, mind you (and I do not include you btw). Perhaps many - instead of most - but certainly not all.

In a thread that's about a game's technical issues, I expected to find discussion over the game. Instead I watch it turn into a new battlefield by many people.

Guys, guys, stop arguing there. ^  I'll retract my previous statement, this is a forum with freedom of speech.

It has for some, but not all, and nobody has really stepped out of line. This would have been the case for any game with these issues. It's not exclusive to Dead Rising 3.

But, again, whether it is "ammo" or not, the technical issues the game currently suffers from are worrisome and disappointing. Doesn't matter who's toes that steps on.

I never said anyone stepped out of line. I also agree that it can be the case for any game. I also predict that it will again (see the convo with frequency).

I generally agree with you. I can't even understand why we're still arguing. Of course people should know about the game's deficinecies, problems or whatever weak points. I strongly believe that a consumer should be able to gather the most information possible, before buying anything (also in the aforementioned convo).

"game maintains a steady 30fps (once you’ve downloaded the day-one patch), even during busy scenes, and once you’re playing there are no loading times to interrupt your journey."
