43 - SoulCalibur II
SoulCalibur II is one of the best fighting games I've played. Just like Digimon, I don't have much to say about it, the game has a very solid roster, gameplay, stages, soundtrack and even more. What makes it fall in this place is simply that I've enjoyed other games more and some games in my list still has that 1st impression effect on me. This game simply does very little wrong for me.

I felt the combat in KOTOR was insanely unbalanced. It's not an issue of "lack" of boss fights, but that every single one-on-one boss fight almost required me to turn the difficulty down (a few of them, like the Wookiee chief, Bastila and Malak straight-up required a retreat to easy mode). If you didn't choose the melee jedi class, then the game just jabbed a giant middle finger in your eye and kept stabbing you repeatedly. KOTOR II was so much nicer about it. Overall stability problems are what kept II out of my top 50. |
Really? I've played through the game twice, and the only troublesome major encounters I had in either my Melee or Force oriented runs were the final boss both times and the last major fight on the Sith planet. And I didn't need to use easy mode either time.
I just found Malak infuriatingly long and arduous due to his huge de facto amount of HP.
As for KOTOR 2, I still need to play that, so maybe it'll be on next year's list instead of KOTOR.

YAY! . But what do you refer by isometric game? There was a Sonic game that was isometric? By racing game you mean Soni R right? And what side mode compilation? :O

My #42 used to be my favorite game of all time. This was back before I was as hardcore a Nintendo fan, and I have since discovered a number of flaws upon replaying this JRPG. Nevertheless, it still earns my love for getting me invested in the series.

Soul Calibur II is my favorite traditional fighter of all time. Really fantastic game with easy to learn, hard to master (and most important of all: intuitive) fighting engine. Great cast of characters and an addictive single player campaign.
Also... Link. :3
(PS3 and X360 just got Soul Calibur II HD on PSN/XBL)

Hint #42: The first game in the series to give the sidekick some playable sections, but also the one that dropped his name from the title.
