My #50 is a portable spinoff from a franchise that seems to lost its way this generation

Final Fantasy Legend?

Right franchise, wrong game

Hmm... that doesn't narrow it down that much considering, lol.

FFXII: Revenant Wings?

I just finished my Top 50 for the year too! It's pretty similar to last year, but there are both old and new games on my Top 50 for the first time. For instance, my #50 is the successor/reboot of a popular series of NES games... any guesses?

The fact that it seems so simple (and the fact that nobody else has tried to guess it yet) makes me almost certain that this is some sort of  malicious bluff, and that what I'm about to say is exactly what you want me to say... But since no one else seems to be willing bite the hook for me, Mega Man X?

Oh, and here's a hint for my #50:

If you take the square root of the number that appears in the title of this game, subtract from that the number that this game is usually placed at on the final results threads, the result you'll get is equal to the number of major console releases this series had seen outside of Japan up to and including this one.

Yeah. A needlessly complicated-sounding math hint. I'm sure I'm going to be popular around here!

Oh, it really was that simple. I played Mega Man X for the first time recently and quite liked it. I guess everybody else was ignoring me for other reasons.

My #50 is a game that was designed in the '80's to be an advocate against something, but the game basically ended up being a supporter of it, in many opinions. It was remade / rebooted in 2005 as multiplat and banned in Australia. One stated that these kinds of games teach kids to do the very things that in real life, we put people in jail for. LOL, also the shrinking dogs are HILARIOUS.

NARC?

Alright, here goes.

Theres not a lot of possible square numbers in games aside from 64. So you get 8, and so the game has to be top 5. After that, it's pretty trivial.

Now that I think about it, yeah. But I am nevertheless proud that I at least came up with a semi-creative hint for something like Super Mario 64. :P

@ forest-spirit

No love for Ocelot?

Beaten by Trucks. Today's just not my day.
