44. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Wii (2007)
Retro Studios

The first Metroid game on the Wii was also the final installment of the much praised Metroid Prime series by Retro Studios. What made this game impressive from the get go was its use of the Wii Remote, being the first game to really unleash the potential of IR aiming for the system. Whoever played the game realized that there was no going back after that (and thankfully they decided to port over Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes with the new Wii setup). But Metroid Prime 3: Corruption isn't just a hardware affirming tech piece, but a fantatic game in and of itself. The sequel takes "bigger and bolder" to new levels, offering Samus Aran mutliple plantets to explore as she tries to stop the evil Metroid Prime (now Dark Samus) from corrupting the galaxy with Phazon. The game takes a more action-packed approach compared to the first two games in the series, and while it can't quite keep up with the masterpiece that is the original Metroid Prime, Corruption does enough to rest on its own laurels. We may never find out about Metroid Dread or that mysterious spaceship, but at least Samus finished the mission on her own terms (aka by blowing up a planet).

Let's test your VGC knowledge rather than your gaming knowledge with this one:

Hint for #43: I won a month-long sig and avatar bet with waron a while ago related to the platform(s) on which this game would be released.

A while ago? The guy was banned three years ago, unless you're remembering the wrong person.

I want to say Mass Effect 2, but that would be much higher up your list, would it not?

I joined the site 5 years ago, and this wasn't too long after that. I meant waron.

Indeed, I'm looking at the thread now

45-2: Digimon Battle Spirits

This is one of 3 games that made me cling to my GBA, where the 2 other were Emerald and Circle of the Moon.

So, what is there to say about this game? Well to start off it doesn't have a very big roster or deep gameplay, which was limited to the available buttons, so what is good about it? I can say that I had very fun time with it and it's one of those games that I really liked for some reason I don't know. It's a charming game nonetheless with appealing visuals, soundtrack and gameplay that is fun to mess around with.

Hint for #43:

This game was the first sighting of what is now a much beloved duo of heroes, although in this game there was no sign of the cereal box instrument.

Well back in the day, the biggest game platform controversies were the following...

Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS3 or Wii?!)
Final Fantasy XIII (Multiplatform?! NOOOOOO!)
Metal Gear Solid IV: Guns of the Patriots (It'll hit X360... just you wait!)
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies (Well VIII was on PS2 so IX will be on... DS?!)

But out of those... for you it's gotta be MGSIV. :3
