My #45 is an easy guess, so ere's a harder hint: the best-selling entry in its series, yet one that predated the protagonist's trademark ability.

Kirby?

Correct, the original Kirby's Dream Land.

'STAR WARS: Rebel Assault II - The Hidden Empire'

for the Macintosh personal computer released in 1995.

My introduction to the 'Star Wars' universe. 'Rebel Assault II' was to me the perfect demonstration of the franchise. I was hooked immediately and today the franchise is one my most beloved franchises in all of media. In 1995, as one of the first batch of games (together with the #49 and #48 entries) we got for our first home computer, I was completely blown away by the awesomeness of 'Star Wars' and felt the depth of the franchise even within this small, simple and narrow game. I heard about 'Star Wars's existence, but never saw the movies. Naturally, the first thing I did when I had played this game for a while was doing just that and I can sincerely say that even today, I still think Episode IV is the greatest movie ever made.

The game itself, isn't the best game ever made, but a good one nonetheless. It was perfect for short periods of gaming. In fact, I'd be all for a remake or even just a simple port of this game, to a handheld console. The game offered great variety within it's fifteen stages. First person flying stages, third person flying stages, rail-shooting stages and a first-person shooting stage. Everything was there, and sometimes with a healthy dose of challenge.

Like most most games of this era, the game was arcade-style high-score based. Being as fast as possible and taking as little damage as possible while destroying as much as possible gave the player the best high-score. Contrary to my previous entries in the list like 'Step-On-It!' however, we never played this game for the high-score. It also came with a nice plot, that wasn't too complicated but still interesting enough for my young self. The plot was layed out through a series of live-action cutscenes. Which I thought, like the movies, were the most awesome thing I'd ever seen.

#45 Hint

In just mere days the sequel for this game is released, which, to someone like me, is a huge deal.

Not sure, but if it's a series with regular releases then it could be a Guitar Hero game. Otherwise, the .Hack series had fairly short release times.

I think Scoobes misunderstood your hint.

A Link to the Past.

Hint for 45: The interesting points of this perspective shifting title have more in common with internet puzzles and ARG than with platforming.

Primarily an RPG player but have interest in any game that will make me think.

A game with more playable characters than you can count with fingers and endings to boot as well.

Fez. These are also big reasons why I didn't really get into it.

Chrono Cross!!!!!!

Yeah, too easy xD

Yeah very easy but it's a really fine game! It's kind of a bad sequel to Chrono Trigger but the game itself is excellent!

#47 Fortune Street

Platform: Wii

The reason I like this game is that I generally like board games and the addition complexity of stocks increases the fun. It isn't as simple as monopoly where the game drags out once all the properties are bought. There is a lot of strategy and it ends usually within 1-2hours

#46 Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time/Darkness

Platform: DS

This is one of favorite games because in addition to being filled with content, a decent amount of challenge but simple enough that anyone can grasp the game plus an interesting story, probably one of the best narratives in a Pokemon game.

#45 Infamous

Platform: PS3

Sucker Punch's entry into the HD generation was a unique one. This was one of the first games to implement a moral alignment system that impacted gameplay. In addition, Cole's parkour made the game's open world feel very explorable as you could get into every nook and cranny. It also gave you superpowers, which most games hadn't properly implemented aside from super strength. His superpowers just made it fun to run around the city, not even needing to kill anybody to get some thrill. The weakness of this game probably was the combat as it revovled around being in that 3rd person shooter view most of the time and the melee was not very good. This was thankfully solved in the sequel though

Hint for #44: You have to keep the rhythm in this fantastic game
