Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo could be forced to discontinue the Wii U next year?

Nintendo should just ditch Wii U and focused more on their handheld consoles since the 3DS sells like hot cake while the Wii U is struggling. I gonna felt sorry for Plantinum Games when their Bayonetta 2 didn't sell well as they expected. It all about PS4,Steam Box & Xbox One now

For the .1% of people who follow video game news online....

They own shares in apple and microsoft
in the last article i read prior to this they talked about how iPhones are destroying the 3DS so the sight has little to no credibility

I didn't know that they own shares in MS.  This is surprising. I always took them to be Apple and PS supporters. They also said that xbone will be the last console from MS... or least I think it was them.

I hate myself for saying this, but part of me hopes this happens.

Imagine the 3DS with Nintendo's full weight behind it.

Best gaming machine ever.

Or, as someone else suggested, they could wait to the end of 3DS and WiiU lifecycles and than release a DS n.3 that can also play HD games on TV. This would be best option imo, for both me and Nintendo.

Even if the media think that, you have to edmit.....the gaming industry will be sort of dull if Nintendo leave the console market.

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games

Nintendo's not crazy. Let's face it, the Wii U has potential but it's just not doing it right now. I don't enjoy taking early conclusions, so I'll just see how 2014 goes.

That would be terrible. Escpecially for the millions, and millions, and millions of people who do not like and refuse to own handheld consoles.

Hence the self-hatred and only part of me hoping it happens.

They won't even last much longer in the handheld market either, seriously the 3DS sales isn't near as strong as the NDS og GBA sales and the Vita is getting killed by mobiles. I think it's a question of time before mobiles and handheld consoles will be all in one and then Nintendo will be doomed as a first party once and for all, because we all know they aren't a mobile company, and we all know how they are bad at hardware, unless they partner up with some mobile company.
