Forums - Sony - DS4 Stick Problem Update: GAFers Are Reporting Similar Issues

It`s just stress testing is all. I`m not worried about it. Sony makes quality products. The slim and super slim PS3 are evidence of that imo. It`s not like the controller has a 54% chance of failing..

Sounds to me like you are worried.

This is my RumblePad2 controller after an entire generation of use. The profile of the rubber seems to be a lot flatter than when I freshly bought it (I don't get the grip I used to get anymore), but that's it. After thousands of hours in use it is still in an almost perfect condition. If the PS4 control sticks start to give in after two weeks of use something definitely is fishy.

lol  Not worried at all, maybe I didn't make that clear in my earlier post?  I thought you didn't want to be a 31 year old family man arguing online over video games anymore?

I'm not 31 years old yet.

Those sticks look more plastic than rubber.

It has to do with the type of user you are. I destroy left sticks. but some of those photos it looks like they were digging in them with their nails.

That is what i thought aswell.

I had this thing happen to me on my Xbox 360 controller after a few years of use. The one on my PS2 and PS3 just lose the rugged surface with time and become smoother. Never had pieces fall off though. Whatever it is, i hope its taken care of if its a problem.

I wont be buying mine until late next year at best, so i am confident the issue will be solved by then.

I have that same controller somewhere. Worst controller I ever bought besides the Barracuda 2 for the PS1.

OT: Hopefully, this isn't a widespread problem with the controllers. If it is, SONY will probably need to replace the type of rubber they use for the controllers because certain rubbers (heh) break down when exposed to oils and household chemicals.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

When I buy a PS4 I am definitely using an adapter to use my Xbone controller, assuming one exists. Should have done that this gen too, the PS3 controllers I have bought I have had bad luck with. So cheaply made it seems.

What an unnecessary jab. Something tells me you're emotionally invested in the "console wars".

it looks like is the same material as the DS3 controller or similar, DS3 has the same looking surface texture. Maybe Sony didn't put the right amount of substance

ok so I'm analizing this image, and I'm seeing something strange:

It looks like the stick was worn off un purpose, it has some strange cuts  that is very unlikely to be made for a thumb mmm.
