This will end up costing Sony quite a bit of money especially if they have to end up replacing a majority of controllers within a year. What kind of warranty comes with the DS4?

They could deem it as missuse which is not covered under warranty, but if the fail rate is high enough, then yes they would need to do something.
Some of the pictures make me wonder how people treat their things. Not sure how the controllers are allowed to get so dirty.

Whether its Sony, MS Nintendo, Apple products, android phones, etc. What are people doing to their electronics? On this specific subject. I have at least 100 hours on two different DS4's plus some 2 player with friends and family, and they still look like the day they came out of the box. Between, Resogun, Killzone, and NFS those sticks have been through a pretty decent beating already. |
Shrug -- I used to argue from your vantage point.
However, I simply don't believe you have used them enough to say. I think you will eventually notice wear and tear on your sticks. For me it started with minor wear and tear on the left stick (Sprint button in Killzone). I'm a Master mode level Resogun player and have played mostly Killzone and Resogun my two control sticks are showing some wear and tear. I don't abuse my controllers, have greasy or oily hands when I play. I don't sweat much at all when I play. It's simply basic usage of the controller and the system.
I don't even know what you need to do to get your controller to look like that. And I'm not only talking about the sticks, the signs of wear are all over the thing.
I haven't held a PS4 controller, but I can tell you right now, whatever the quality, a controller of mine won't look like that after two weeks.

Definitely makes it hard for people to not think gamers are complete slobs.

It's what has happen to me but so far it's only the tear from the pic i posted earlier. I have around 200 hours of gaming with the controller from killzone, some resogun, and a lot of bf4.
My left stick was extremley worn down just from normal play. ''BF4 Launch Bundle'' from Amazon.
Talked to amazon after about 10 mins had a new control on the way with free 2 day shipping... if anyone has this problem and ordered from amazon I suggest talking to them in a live chat and they will get it worked out for you.
Going to use protective covers on this one for sure.
