Forums - Sony - Ps3 corrupt data (help)

So today I was deleting game files off my ps3 that i don't play anymore. I tried to delete Resistance 3 data and it just said it was deleting for minutes (probably 10). I eventually decided to reboot the system and when i went back it has a grey icon with a broken file symbol. Where the game title would be it says corrupt file. Then i tried to delete Resident Evil Revelations and the same thing happened.

Is my HDD fucked? Whats an easy solution?

To quote an obscure 1970's TV show called "Good Times":

J.J. my man, you in trouble......

oddly enough the dame thing happened to me..though just with Resistance 3.....I never really solved the problem myself it was only when my PS3 broke(disc drive failed) when I just did a complete format of the system's harddrive traded it in and got myself a new system.

you might have to just have to live with the corrupt data.. i did for Resistance 3 for about 3 months...if all your games are doing this then I'd suggest buying atleast a month of PS+(if you don't have it already) upload all your save data to the cloud then do a complete format...if the problems still continue then you might need to get a new harddrive

This is a common problem for some PS3 games, and Resistance 3 is one of them.

Mine took a lot of time to delete. Like 35 minutes IIRC.

Can you delete the corrupt data? Sometimes you can, sometimes you can't and you're stuck with wasted space unless you do a complete HDD reformat.

No, while trying to delete the data it just gets stuck like it did while trying to delete it before it said it was corrupted. I looked at my save files and it didnt seem like i was far in any of the games. I just platniumed Resident Evil so i decided to quick reformat and it wiped everything

Well that sucks... There is this legit tool called save data unlocker to help recover/move save files but apart from that, I think you are out of luck, sorry to hear that though

Wow thats ridiculous. What woukd cause something like that? All i can think of is file size.

This happened to me three times. IT's Resistance 3. You should be fine. Just delete the data again, and leave it as you go eat dinner or something, when you come back in an hour, the file should be deleted successfully.

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360
