I think they are taking a big loss at $500, more than Sony is on the ps4, so I think $400 is out of the question for them.

X1 is not gonna be sold at loss. PS4 will be sold at loss.

I reckon Xbox One and PS4 will be sold at a loss, but both companies will try to cover it up.

They'll be fine. I expect great things for X1.
The $500 will be well worth it. MS guns haven't even fully flexed. 343i,Black Tusk and others haven't even released their projects. Plus I have high expectations for Kinect .2

No console has ever sold well at that price and no console ever will. Until it comes down, expect sluggish sales.

You are right technically.  But If you take inflation into account, there have been many consoles that have sold at that amount.

It is near the end of the end....

But the ratio of income to cost of living has to be taken into account and that's much too convoluted for vgchartz lol. But people don't really look at price tags and go "hmm, that's much cheaper than something released 20 years ago, I'll buy it." haha

Unless we want more investors/analyst saying they should sell the Xbox Division? Sure.

I think they will launch like the wii u did. They will sale all they have before christmas but next year will be really tough. They will have to match sonys price quickly next year or they will be in third place fast. They did do well with the casuals with connect but rite now they are way outa there price range and nintendo is gonna pick up them up once again. I think the next six months are gonna be big for the wii u and i think xbox one is going to suffer. Because of price and bad press and nintendo finally getting games out allot of xbox one dollars are going to go to nintendo.

Oh then the $500 price tag is pretty messed up and should be $450 at max.  I expect a price drop a lot sooner than normal.

If they would have priced the X1 at $399.99 they would be leading in North American preorders at this point (imo). However, I can see why they would not want to absorb that kind of loss when they can afford to drop the price in a year and really pick up steam.

" Rebellion Against Tyrants Is Obedience To God"

I think if it would have sold 400 dollars with kinect, it would have had the upper hand against sony despite it being weaker.  Because more casual people that wanted say next gen call of duty would possibly think the extra value of kinect would opt for X1. But at 500 dollars I see it being a stickler and launching like PS3 did.

Now should they have done it? I don't know, that's not how microsoft generally operates and if we're comparing company business models, Microsoft is way ahead of sony in that department as far as profitability is concerned. I'm sure people at MS would be under even more pressure for it to perform extraordinary if it was being sold at a loss.

But, I don't think pricing it the way they it is now was the correct decision, as I just think it's going to flail around.
