You are wrong because your opinion of trophies is wrong, there are thousands of people who like collecting trophies that prove you wrong, and you're using that as a basis to form your view.

So you're wrong, so you don't.

Someone else having a different opinion to mine does not in any way prove me wrong.

Yes it does, if your opinion goes against a fact.  If your opinion is that the Moon is made of cheese then you are wrong.  Just like your opinion of what trophies are to gamers is wrong.

Trophies being more to gamers than 'arbitrary rewards' is a fact, so any opinion you got based on them just being that is wrong.

It is not fact. Gamers have different opinions of trophies. There is no right or wrong.

Look at his PSN gamer card. It's obvious he doesn't play games because he likes and enjoys them but like a child who needs instant gratification 24/7

Mind if I humor this comment by asking you to compare trophies with me on PSN and then tell me that I don't only play games I like? You'd be surprised by how many more platinums I could potentially have if I actually bought games just for trophies, seeing as there are hundreds of super easy ones out there. I've never done that, nor will I ever bro. This whole topic was just me giving my own personal opinion on a certain feature I think Nintendo should have, and now people are borderline trying to crucify me lol

Trophy system = dick contest.

(loved this metaphor)

Obs.: I really don´t care about thophies and achievements. No need to compare myself all the time with others.

Trophies/achievements, for some people, are extremely fun to get. No one can judge trophy hunters for their tastes. Some have fun in single player, others in MP, others ain competitive leaderboards, others hunting trophies, yes.

Saying "you're playing for the wrong reasons because you play for trophies" is EQUALLY wrong. Playing to collect trophies can be a perfectly valid and fun hobby.

Trophies are optional and those who dislike them can simply turn them off. There's no reason to not having them, and Nintendoesn't just because they are being Nintendo. it's stupid, it makes no sense not to, when everyone has them.

It motivates people to buy more games, more DLC, to buy the friggin multiplats in your system.

Wake the fuck up, Nintendo.

Newsflash: not everyone collects trophies to compare them with others; even if they compare, what's the problem? Why are you entitled to have fun your way, and others aren't?  Please stop judging and downplaying other's way of having their fun.

Hey, I collect trophies. I never compare them to anyone else, I do it for myself, to see which games I played, which games I finished, to check my log and remember some gaming sessions, etc. I have lots of fun collecting and I do them in my own pace. I don't care that some people cheat their lists, all I care about is having my little gaming history recorded.

Yeah you don't like trophies, but let those people who like them to enjoy them, they don't affect you one bit. How difficult is that?

I see a lot of Nintendo fans criticising trophies/achievements, yet they are no different to trying to collect every Pokemon in a Pokemon game. Why do it? Most of the catching/evolving is just a grind, 90% of them wil not be used, the reward for catching them all is meaningless.

Yet you do it.

Well, I presented Xenoblade and Smash Bros. as examples, you add Pokemon to the list. Some people already answered, that they don't like them. Possible and understandable, but clearly nothing 'Nintendo-fans' in general do. I already said I like some achievements. I found them OK in Xenoblade, mostly irrelevant in Smash Bros. and excellent in Kid Icarus: Uprising. In my opinon KI:U has the best execution of how achievements can work.

The basic assumption of Nintendo-haters is, that Nintendo-games and games on Nintendo-platforms don't have achievements. That is basically wrong. So this thread is in a way pointless.

And with Pokemon: while some have fun catching all, most players simply concentrate on competitive Pokemon and try to breed them to the best Pokemon EVAR to beat everyone else in Online battles. So you simply cannot generalize to every Nintendo-fan.

This sentance here proves you're wrong, since you basing your opinion the belief trophies are arbitrary rewards only.  Gamers feel differently about them.

Chill, dude. He has never said that every Nintendo-gamer dislike trophies. He always said he dislikes them. If you think he said something different, show me the post. In fact he proved you wrong. You were generalizing, that every Nintendo-fan catches Pokemon as achievements (You addressed Nintendo-fans and ended your post with 'Yet you do it.'). He simply said he don't do that.

Also you were wrong about playing Pokemon wrong, if yo udon't catch all Pokemons. Only some players do that. It is nothing wrong in you only catching a few, to concentrate on the good even gives you an advantage over the people that waste their time catching every Pokemon under the sun. Because if you do that, the time is missing to breed your Pokemon with excellent stats. I think you simply don't understand how Pokemon works.

By the way, this thread is so full of wrong assumptions, I have to point out some of them:

1. Achievements are non-gaming.
2. Achievements make you play bad games.
3. Nintendo-gamers hate achievements (versus SOME Nintendo-gamers hate achievements).
4. The Nintendo-gamers that argue against achievements are the same that play and enjoy some games with achievements.
5. Games on Nintendo-platforms have no achievements.
6. Nintendo-games have no achievements.
7. WiiU has no achievements.
8. If you don't try to catch all Pokemons, you play Pokemon wrong.
9. All gamers on Playstation/Xbox care about achievements.
10. People that care about achievements, care about all achievements in every game.

Whether or not achievements are the "right" motivation to play/keep playing a game, it doesn't change the fact that it is appealing to a lot of people. The weird thing is that Nintendo already understand this, as plenty of their games have unlockables/collectables/achievements already.

One thing no-one seems to have mentioned is that a unified achievement system would help drive 3DS owners towards the Wii U. If they attach something to the achievements, like the hats in TF2, it could become addictive enough to buy a whole system for. Some hats in TF2 go for thousands of dollars. It's pretty much worth putting it in just on the off chance it is a hit.

Also, it promotes loyalty from one generation to the next. I know a few people who are pretty upset at having to leave their gamerscore behind on the 360 when moving to the PS4. If it was a toss up between 2 systems for next-gen, the achievements could swing it.
