Forums - Gaming - Xone or Ps4?

So yeah, I was considering just sticking it out with 7th Generation, but today just got hit with random thought to upgrade to next gen, so I was planning to scrap my 360 along with 30 or so games to get the maximum trade in value, however the thoughts that I have at the moment is whether to go for One or PS4, as a person who mainly favours multiplat games with an exclusive every now and then. However, what got me pondering is if switching to PS4 might be a better option in the end, the free games on offer with PS+ seem to be superior to those offered by the XBL service, and to my dismay, my girlfriend brought me a Vita for my birthday, so now I have a useless accessory lying around - how is the integration on PS4 in regards to the Vita?

Bearing in mind, I haven't read up much on PS4 in the slightest, and can't really be bothered to do the internet trawling when there are enough avid posters to shower me with facts.

Is there party chat on PS4?

Are the services such as Lovefilm, netflix subscription free on PSN now? (Do I have to pay for subscription to those services separately on top of PSN+?)

What IP's are in the pipework (I am no fan of inFamous or Killzone so those don't interest me in particular, liked Uncharted & Heavy rain though)

Is there BC for either of the consoles?

What are the controller changes like? (I really did not like the original PS controllers when compared with Xbox controllers)

Is the PSN shaped for the better in terms of community - do you get a headset as a standard bundle?

Thoughts on titanfall eventually making it to PS4?

Ok, well I suppose I will answer

yes on party chat

yes you will have to pay for seperate subscriptions on top of ps+,  but you aren't required to get ps+ to use those apps.

No big IP's announced really, but Naughty Dog is still Sony owned, and their games are gaming bliss at its finest.

No BC on either console.

Minor changes to X1 controller, it is flatter and with rumble in the triggers.  Big changes to ps4 controller, brings it more in like with xbox, bigger, better sticks and triggers, and a touch pad... for some reason...

psn will be as good as any other community I suppose, and it comes with a cheap handset type of headset.

Titanfall will never be on ps4, but the sequels will... probably...

Personally, I get every system.  I don't just pick one.  However, I will probably get a ps4 first this time and will probably get all my multiplats for the ps4.  So if you are primarily a multiplat playing person, I would suggest ps4.

Is there party chat on PS4?  YES

Are the services such as Lovefilm, netflix subscription free on PSN now? (Do I have to pay for subscription to those services separately on top of PSN+?) YES you have to have subs I would assume, at least for Netflix surely.

What IP's are in the pipework (I am no fan of inFamous or Killzone so those don't interest me in particular, liked Uncharted & Heavy rain though) Naughty Dog is making something which will surely be a must buy.  Every gamer should experience this company's games as they never skimp on any apsect.  Uncharted will likely come but it is unconfirmed.  Little Big Planet is rumored.  God of War and Gran Turismo are likely.  I know you said you don't like it but Shadow Fall looks amazing, IMO.  Sony's strongest point is their exclusives.  I like Halo, Gears, and Trials, and Fable but they simply can't compare to Sony first party, which is why I am waiting to get XB1.  People who hate on Sony exclusives simply don't own Sony products.  It's true 90% of time.

Is there BC for either of the consoles? I don't think so, but they will both likely cloud this option and have it.  How good it will function is unknown.

What are the controller changes like? (I really did not like the original PS controllers when compared with Xbox controllers) I prefer Sony controllers by a longshot.  Supposedly the PS4 controller fits in your hand better than PS2/3 controllers did.  I have not held one, but I have heard it is more ergonomic and less "small" as people who didn't like it stated in the past.  It has a touchscreen also, which Sony has proven it can use in a fun and functional way with Vita implementation.

Is the PSN shaped for the better in terms of community - do you get a headset as a standard bundle? Yes you get a headset and party chat.  It will be smiliar to what you are used to.

Thoughts on titanfall eventually making it to PS4?  Recently company has claimed it will not happen.

If u mainly play 3rd party then the ps4 is the better system right now, that and vita integration with remote-play are 2 reasons why I'm picking up a PS4 first.you can party chat with up to 8 people on ps4 & vita, you do not have to pay for PlayStation Plus to access Netflix or any other streaming service, but PlayStation Plus is now required for online play. unfortunately there is no bc on the consoles, but with that Gaiki you will be able to stream ps3 games onto the ps4 just not on day one. as for IP in the pipe works, there are many new exclusive IP on the ps4 and while Titanfall will not come to PS4, rumor has it the next iteration in the series will.
just my 2 cents, but u should do your own research and see what features interest you on either the ps4 or the xbone

Don't know if a vita is worth the switch, I'm not sure about how it will integrate. In the end maybe compare your MS investments with the investment of a vita. The ps+ games might be worth it, I'm mostly in the dark like you on most of the ins and outs. Good luck choosing the right one.

Is there party chat on PS4? Yes, up to 8 people.

Are the services such as Lovefilm, netflix subscription free on PSN now? (Do I have to pay for subscription to those services separately on top of PSN+?). The services are free to access (i.e. you don't need PS+), but they still have their own subscription fees.

What IP's are in the pipework (I am no fan of inFamous or Killzone so those don't interest me in particular, liked Uncharted & Heavy rain though). All first party studios are currently developing games for the PS4. This includes Quantic Dream (I know they're 3rd party) and Naughty Dog.

Is there BC for either of the consoles? Nothing mentioned for Xbox One yet, but Gaikai is supposed to be facilitating BC for PS4 at some point in 2014 starting with North America.

What are the controller changes like? (I really did not like the original PS controllers when compared with Xbox controllers). I'm tempted to go get a DS4 today, but from what I've heard it's a much improved version of the DS3. It's larger, better analog sticks, better triggers, extremely light, and the buttons are now digital instead of pressure sensitive (because nobody was really using that feature). The Xbox One controller is a bit smaller than the 360 version and has rumble for all the buttons. I've only heard good things about both.

Is the PSN shaped for the better in terms of community - do you get a headset as a standard bundle? Yes, you get a headset in the box. Whether that makes the community better is up to you. It'll certainly do away with the barrier of people not having anything to communicate with.

Thoughts on titanfall eventually making it to PS4? It's never coming to PS4, but its sequels most likely will.

So far it sounds like multiplats will be better on the PS4 for a little while until MS improves their software or devs get more familiar with the RAM architecture of the Xbox One. MS also has just about everything behind their pay wall still (just found out Youtube has been behind the pay wall too), so I'd say the PS4 is your best choice at the moment.

Thoughts on titanfall eventually making it to PS4?

YEs there is party chat

PS+ is not required to access any subscription services (cost of subs is up to the service i.e. Netflix still has a monthly fee) it is needed to play multiplayer games online excluding F2P titles and possibly games that require a monthly fee to play.

No idea on Uncharted or Heavy Rain. Rumors abound that there will be some reveals coming soon (SPike TV etc.)

Neither system has out of the box BC. Sony has announced Gaikai slated for 2014 for streaming older games though.

New DS4 is a MARKED improvement over DS3. Picked mine up yesterday and spent time playing Batman Arkum Asylum on Steam.

Yes there is a headset bundled with the system (its a cheap earbud though) and we'll have to see what new community tools are available for PS4 and PSN.

Titanfall (at least the first one) is an XB1 exclusive. PS4 owners interested in Titanfall will have to wait for Titanfall 2 most likely.

Remote play looks very promising between Vita and PS4. There's a video floating around here of it.

Also, if you are dismayed at owning a PS Vita you could always regift it.... to me!

Is there party chat on PS4?

Yes, up to 8 people can chat at once as well as to Vita players

Are the services such as Lovefilm, netflix subscription free on PSN now? (Do I have to pay for subscription to those services separately on top of PSN+?)

Well you don't have to have PS+ to use Netflix or any app on PS4 but obviously you have to pay to use the service in the first place.

What IP's are in the pipework (I am no fan of inFamous or Killzone so those don't interest me in particular, liked Uncharted & Heavy rain though)

Naughty Dog's 1 team has been on hiatus for over 2 years so they have something cooking (haven't made anything since Uncharted 3).  The Order 1886 is made by Ready at Dawn and due out next year.  They made Daxter and the 2 GoW games on PSP.  Sony said they have 20 first party exclusives (RaD doesn't count as they're not a first party studio) with 12 new IP in the first year so it's gonna get a lot more than Infamous and Killzone.  For comparison's sake Xbox said 15 first party exclusives and 8 new IP at their conference.

Is there BC for either of the consoles?

No.  Crossbuy is in effect for some PSN most notably Flower and Sound Shapes.

What are the controller changes like? (I really did not like the original PS controllers when compared with Xbox controllers)

Bigger grips to be more comfy for those who called DS3 too small, curved out triggers, concave sticks, dpad improved, latency reduced with digital buttons, weightier.  Also no batteries just like DS3 but unlike Xone's controller.

Is the PSN shaped for the better in terms of community - do you get a headset as a standard bundle?

Headset comes with PS4.  You can connect easily with your friends on PSN I already do on PS3.

Thoughts on titanfall eventually making it to PS4?

probably not though Titanfall 2 should come out in a couple years and EA owns the IP so...
