I've never seen people get so angry about GFLOPS. I remember when gaming was about games.

Here's one from before launch: "Wii U has a powerful GPU with more oomph than the rivals – and is more modern in architecture and shader support, which may come in handy later on." http://www.gengame.net/2012/08/report-developers-talk-wii-u-specs-including-ram-cpu-and-gpu-details/ Note how this dev separates the term "more oomph" and "more modern architecture", it's more powerful aside from the fact that it has a more modern architecture. And no, if you read the neoGaf thread correctly, you'll note that those numbers are still guesses based on BGs analysis, not from any spec sheet. Again, the spec sheet does not have that ALU information. @genti the 360 has around 216 GFLOPS theoretical performance numbers |
Nope, your absolutely wrong. People who've never developed for the system speculating about hardware they do not have a clear idea about while stating "Rumours" as dogma will always be more informed than any dev that has stated the opposite!

There is no such thing as programmable gflops.
Shrugs.
Seems to me the system is pretty much exactly what Nintendo wanted. Something good enough to get PS3/360 ports (and the Wii U does have superior versions of things like Arkham Origins, Assassin's Creed IV, Black Ops 2 when you consider it can the game on the TV and the controller simultaneously), while being small and electricity efficient.
I can't say I agree with Nintendo's fetish for needing to have such a small console/low electricity draw (if it was portable in some way I'd understand), but they make that a huge priority for whatever reason.

They did disclose the constraint of the amount of ALUs didn't they ? Otherwise nylevia would be lying. |
Those are no longer there, Nintendo opened up their system so more .
So what this discussion here boils down to...
We still don't know jack sh*t.
I'll just keep trusting my eyes then.
Cant even do that when 3rd parties are coding it so the WiiU has platform parity with last gent titles

Hello Ninjablade...banned again i see.
I'd take Neogaf's info with a huge grain of salt frankly. Not saying it's not true, just that I'm reluctant to trust the word of an anonymous source.

Togegher with the news there are a rumor about a downgrad in specs before the release. |
Shin'en Multimedia busted this rumour; someone actually asked them, and they said their devkits got stronger with time, not weaker.
