Forums - Sales - Diablo III sold 14 million so far

Long time Diablo fan. I had a falling out with Blizzard though. I played Diablo 1 and 2 a lot. They were fun games but the end game of Diablo 2 was boring and very repetitive (Baal runs... need I say more). I might pick up Diablo 3 one day for cheap.  But I'm kind of tired of the button clickers with little strategy.

Want a good tip? Wait for Grim Dawn's full release, I think it could be massive!

OT: That's all well and good but how many are still playing it? I think at least ten of my closets friends bought it for PC but none of them, including me, are playing it any more. Blizzard games are near immortal, especially in multiplayer, they seem to have killed this aspect in Diablo III.

Besides my, obviously, anecdotal evidence, the reports are similar everywhere, Diablo III simply won't live as long as D2 and D1, not even close and it was obvious from the very beginning.

With Blizzard having fallen into the "mass appeal" or "broader audience" category, there is only Valve left standing for me as a pure developer intent on actually creating games for gamers instead of games for people who never liked them to begin with and will soon move on to other pastimes.

12 million sold on PC, yeah that will teach them not to mess around with always online drm next time...

That said, the demo was quite enjoyable on ps3, not enough for a purchase though.

I will buying for PS4 in 2014 so +1 here!

It has sold 14 million units to date when you encompass all versions, and it was at 12 million before the PS360 versions came out. So the console ports probably did a little under 2 million.

Am I missing something here? How does that not make sense?

You're right. I interpreted it wrong.

However, that 12 million was before the Consoles launch, you might aswell add another million or so to account for the PC's longer legs, which probably puts the console versions at roughly 1-1.5 million copies sold, thus it pretty much bombed compared to the PC version.

Well...yeah. Year old console ports of a game that was designed and intended for PC probably aren't going to do great numbers. I don't think anyone really expected them to.

Path of Exile.

I may double dip for ps4, lost interest in the pc version due to real money AH and some not so great patches. time will tell if it will be worth it or not. It would be worth waiting for it to go on sale or get marked down first though. Depends on if it comes with the expansion or not. If not I will wait for a game of the year edition of sorts.
