As said before. 1080p isn't necessarily a dealbreaker, but it certainly isn't a disadvantage either.

When your game runs like shit its a disadvantage^
I am unclear how your op in any way relates to your subject line.
At face value you would appear to believe that WiiU delivers 1080p gaming ?
If that is the case you are sadly mistaken. In fact most WiiU games that I have seen are graphically weak by 2013 standards. I am astonished at how bad they look.

Like ?
Dont look at him. He's just salty EA cancelled Crysis 3 for the WiiU even though it was finished, and he doesnt like Need For Speed ( which looks as good as Rivals, and it plays faster)
V sync is the reason any game suffers any framerate drop on the WiiU, besides bad coding.
Im annoyed at the lack of AF and the chromatic abberration present in these next gen titles on the PS4/Xbone tho

''Over 100 times more'' implies something like 200 times more or 300 times more, not ''more than 300 times more'' Whatever the quantity may, it is mathematically wrong. |
Whatever the mathematically correct numbers is = "Over 100 times more"

Its not so much about the resolution but more about visual fidelity.
Both the 360 and PS3 sold well because its games looks much better than PS2. Its glaringly obvious when you see the games on the systems. The resolution of these games is partly what makes these games look better than PS2 games. Its obviously not the only factor. Take any PS1 game and bump up its resolution to 4k and it will look like complete shit.
Take a game like Ryse...Ryse will probably sell well based on its looks. It looks notably better than last gen games...yet its not native 1080p but it does have a significant higher resolution. This higher resolution though isnt needed for the game to look better than current gen but it goes a long way in helping.
So yeah i think consumers do care about resolution. And im not just talking about forum gamers..im talking about casuals...the 140 million people who bought a ps3 or 360. They just might not know it.

True. Many things can effect picture quality far beyond just the resolution. I think 1080P is more important for the TV and what it is being displayed on that the actual source material. Some upscalers can do almost magical things.
1080P on a 4K could most often look better than 1080p on a 1080p display.
But we do have to remember Blu-ray can't do 1080p/60fps either.
TL/DR: higher resolution is more important for the displays.

Super Smash Bros. 4 and Wind Waker HD are the only and will likely be the only 1080p games.
2/10, will not read again. |
There are more then 10 Wii U games already out doing Native 1080p.
