Funny, the people who called the Xbox One weak for a drop in resolution in favour of 60fps are nowhere to be seen in this thread.

Some of us were at work ;)

Hey we dont yet know what FPS the XboxOne version runs at. If it runs at the same FPS as Sony's but at 720... then thats a bigger problem right? According to the sources on Neogaf both versions were having performance issues, so wouldnt get too excited just yet.

Finally why is it that the xboxOne version is no where to be seen for another two weeks as it's been embargo'd... very fishy if you ask me.

I think BF4 is a good comparison, that ran at 900 vs 720 and was still running higher than the XboxOne version... who is to suggest anything different this time around.

Finally... one review i read was that the FPS dip was "Occasional" are we really getting over excited by dips in FPS that are occasional?

Irony is, he was wrong...........same people are posting, what is sad is when the 720P x1 version also has fram drops, they won;t be seen anywhere lol.

You say when as if you know, but you seem to have very little knowledge of how PC architecture works.

I would be really shocked if there was ANY framerate dips at 720 as I have a far inferior PC that runs in 1080 for skyrim with all settings cranked except AA. There's no way that the Xbox One should slow down at 720, just like the PS4 shouldn't slow down at 720. But when both systems push their new graphics at 1080 its probably going to slow down until they get the programming right for these systems, or they just simply will never run complicated games at 1080 much like this generation.

The problem is that we also don't know what kind of FPS drop... how much by, is there a patch incoming, it seems reviewers are getting lazy... But the big question they should be asking on top of that is... Why is there an embargo on the XboxOne versions of 3rd party games. 1st party, you can make it look nice and as you have no other versions to compare it by then it stands mainly on its gameplay, but 3rd partys is a good  picture of early issues/problems/"Balance"... but apparently no journo is bothered about that right now.

If it runs the same then no doubt it would be a huge problem for that game, the other software would also have to reflect that.

Again i really don't see how the Xbox one will run slow FPS at a low 720p res but i guess i could be wrong. I would be very disappointed if it did and would definitely have to go with PS4 first, but i will always get all systems at some point, i've always owned them all at some point. I may love my Dreamcast but i also had lined up at Wal-Mart with my dad overnight to get a PS2. I'm literally not on any fence here although i have most of my friends on Xbox, but i still have several friends on PSN as well, real life friends of course.

Its funny some of the comments here people thinking it will happen on Xbox One too. The issues didn't happen on 360 or PS3?

When I'm gaming on my PC 1080p makes things a lot harder than 720p, like way harder, even if I'm just slightly below 1080p its nowhere near as taxing as 1080p for whatever reason.

I would not be surprised at all if Sony pulled a 1980's Nintendo maneuver and tried to pay them to push it to 1080p native. While on the other hand Microsoft (being a mostly PC company) noticed the slowdown and told them to keep it at 1080p.

I would be really shocked with the hardware that's in the Xbox One (whether its as good as PS4 or not) would have any slowdown at lower resolution like 720p when the 360 or PS3 didn't have problems the PS4 did.

As someone who build computers and is constantly optimizing I wouldn't be surprised that Sony tried to push this just before the console comes out as a PR tactic but in all reality the PS4 is probably about as much more powerful as the PS3 was over the 360 which was basically both systems constantly trying to find a resolution for each game.

Again I still have to say I'm disappointed both systems weren't able to handle a game like Call of Duty at 1080p 60fps out the box and definitely isn't pushing the boundaries as much as when the 360 and PS3 came out. I'd say they're like 75% of the jump the last gen took. And maybe like 10% of the jump from Super Nintendo to N64.

This has nothing to do with Sony PAying or pushing anything, the devs CONFIRMED, they choose 720P as opposed to 1080P for x1 because it was not playable.....................................The amount of spin, dillusion in your post is pretty scary.

They also said it was 60 fps and its not.

I'm a PC, PS3, and 360 owner, i have no allegiance other than Sega.

What dillusion, i'm going to school for software engineering and have been building computers and tweaking them for over 15 years.

I said "I wouldn't be surprised" if Sony did something like that, i never claimed that they HAVE DONE THIS.

You and the other guy that crossed out my writing need to learn how to read.

If Xbox One doesn't slow down at all at 720p then we all know that Sony would have pushed them to put it into 1080 to try and one up the Xbox One in a PR tactic.

I personally don't care either way, i think both systems are pretty lame that they have any slowdown at all.

Again, a gross exaggeration ona  cross gen launch title........I have a high end gaming PC, and even games on it have frame drops...people making a mountaon of a mole hill again..

Killzone looks way better then COD, and doesn't have an FPS drops...

It's a cross gen launch title, relax.

You doubt it, that's fine, but talking from a tech point of view... it's certainly possible.

It depends on how often and how much it dips. If its just save points... and it drops by 15 FPS... is that a problem. Nope. If it drops 50 FPS and lasts for 3 seconds, yes thats a problem. No one is saying that the XboxOne or PS4 versions are slow, just that they both were showing issues with FPS drops before the resolution stuff came out.

So until we have a better idea of what the scope of this occasional/infrequent drop is, then we are not 100% certain why it might be doing it.

I understand why you might think if it works fine on Xbox360 then why shouldn't it work fine on a more powerful XBO.. the reason is that the tech/tools are different, and so they have had to try and fit the current game into the new console.  But why is this a problem you are thinking to yourself... well read any review of the PS4 version and you will see it has higher textures/shadows/lighting... it's not a straight port, and nor will the XBO version be.

So Yes I agree 100% they would not have any issues if they had ported the current gen game to either both XbO or PS4 without any graphical upgrades. The problem exists when you start improving the textures, lighting and everything else, you then have to start improving your engine tech and make it work with the Sony/MS tools/flow. So don't assume that just cause one has had a resolution drop it wont have similar problems. I think BF4 has already proven thats not the case... of course we need more games to confirm what the type of gap is.. but as COD is embargo'd then we wont know for a couple of weeks.

Based on BO2, it looks like this is a slightly more demanding game. The 7850 ran BO2 at 67fps avg. at 1920 x 1200. The worrisome thing to me is that the 7770ghz edition was just able to reach 60fps avg. at 1280 x 1024. Hopefully Infinity Ward is not trying to over reach with both consoles. Frame rate issues across the board are not a good way to sell people on the next gen.

It will be very interesting to see the DF comparisons on this game, and see just how bad the frame drops are. If it really does not effect gameplay at any point, I don't see it as to big of an issue. Its not like COD has a captivating story to tell.

Meh, I'm adding a third too, but definitely not for gaming. One 780 could net you you 100fps in Ghosts, easy.

I'm an AMD man, my wallet says so anyway. I'm buying a new GPU in january, most likely, but I have no idea which one to get for now.
