Where they got the data matters because it's if not their own prediction, then they shouldn't take credit for it. If they're changing it to match publisher numbers, they should say so.

At the end of the day, VGChart's predictions are kinda of accurate in some instances but mostly hit and miss.

I never said I blindly believe Pachter.  It was clear I was saying his opinion is more valued than yours.

Accurate numbers are accurate numbers.  In using numbers for a factual debate it matters very little if you think they are unethical how they get their numbers. 


You're free to believe a guy whose predictions have been turning out to be flat out wrong for years now.

And, accurate? The only accurate numbers come from publishers. And unless VGChartz comes out and says that they got those numbers from publishers, they're just estimates.

If you want to conclude all of the numbers are no good then fine I can't stop you but your side stepping the point.  We weren't debating the validity of the numbers.  We were debating if the numbers are reliable, should they be used.  You were simply saying VGC numbers shouldn't be used based on a ethical position.  I disagree because it doesn't make them any less valid.

Of course the numbers can be used. The big games are more or less close pretty good approximation. But let's not use it for everything.

While we're at it, we should stop this ship vs sold BS. vgchartz will use shipped if the publisher releases those numbers.

But sounds like it is similar to being on the cover of Sports Illistrated for an athelete. :0



 

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

exactly ,I remember it was about the time Patcher started making waves and I suggested that Brett should get him onboard in some form, and Brett replied that they had something in the pipeline , that turned out to be  the Bret and Source chats and that was years ago.

Yes it is.  Come to LA and we can go take a look and find it.  I know eactly some of the buildings in the background, we could walk around in and find him.  It would not be hard to do at all.

It's only a few blocks from the Official VGChartz E3 dinner meet up!

Then present Pachter with a special VGChartz Cake of apprecation!  That shouldn't sit on his desk for decades like some of the other stuff.  (Provided we can talk our way through security.)
