Last day of the News switcheroo. After this, I go back to the 3DS and Slarvax back to the Wii U. But for now...
Wii U News: February 16, 2014
- Sales data for the week ending February 8 is coming in! The Wii U remained fairly stable from last week, selling about 36,000 units worldwide. That's somewhat better than the 360, but a bit worse than the Vita and somewhat worse than the Xbox One. So the Wii U is still not doing well.
- On the bright side, the Wii U is doing decently in the USA. Sales for the hardware rose this week in the USA, despite the general decline outside of the 3DS. The three leading games are still the Super Mario platformers including NSLU, which are the three Wii U games in the Top 20. These three games were responsible for over 40% of Wii U software sales this week. Games from spots #21 to #75 include Wii Fit U, Nintendo Land, Wind Waker HD, and Assassin's Creed IV.
- Another day, another eShop game from an indie dveloper announced. This one is an exclusive retro side-scroller, expected for a vague "2014" release.
- Also, a new "Flowerworks" title is being developed. The original game was a late 2009 WiiWare release that was fairly well received.
- If you get Tropical Freeze at Toys R Us, you also get a $10 gift card.
- Pokemon Battles are abound lately!
