Just got my download code for SMBDX!

Everyone who signed up for Miiverse on 3DS or connected their Wii U account to it, got a download code for this.

My DKC Tropical Freeze was sent today! That means I'll have it by Monday or Tuesday.

I linked my account day one.... I didn't know about this!

I've been thinking, and after seeing the reaction to this ND, I believe Nintendo should stop doing them. Too many people expect too much and even if they show everything most people wanted (Bayo, X, GBA VC, Little Mac etc) people will still complain. I'd say the overall vibe I've gotten from the internet is that people disliked the ND. I thought it was great although it chugged a bit in the middle.

Anyways, Nintendo should continue to release trailers and whatnot, just don't do it with a ND...

I remember there was a ND that came out of nowhere (Nintendo Direct Mini I believe they called it) and no one cared about it, most of the stuff were eshop games iirc.

Nintendo should take that approach, don't announce ND and just release a video on youtube at any time any day. That way people won't get hyped.

It wouldn't matter since the problem is people's inability to temper themselves/act like adults.  Doesn't help that there are trolls everywhere.  

A lot of the people who were heavily disappointed with this Direct either had unrealistic expectations for big changes this early or aren't interested too  in Nintendo in the first place. ND keeps hype levels at least moderate among the core fanbase and directs people to new trailers. And it's cheap. The situation could perceivably be much worse if trailers just spontaneously appeared on their website and Nintendo just waited for people to get wind of it.

What about mini events for each game? That way, they would get people hyped for one game instead possible mystery announcements?

I've always liked Nintendo Directs but there seems to be so much negativity around each one that it can't be good for Nintendo...

Well if you linked it, check your email. That's where they send the codes, but they said people will get it throughout February, so maybe you haven't received it yet.
