Forums - Nintendo - Iwata Is Naturally Unhappy With Q2 2014 Results, But Claims Major Overhaul Isn’t Necessary

Arius Dion said:
Sure they did..you believe them? Or do you think it likely Nintendo's business side 'nudged' them tto make DKC instead of say, Metroid?

They made 3 Metroid games in the span of 5 years, why is it so hard to believe that they would make 2 DKC games especially if they had a lot of ideas they couldnt fit into the first one?

Dude's tripping. But its not just him. But as preisdent he should be able to reign in his troops. Every dev at Nintendo (save for Retro) has been given the priveledge to find their inner Picaso, and not bend toward commercial interests. Unreal.

I hope this is just lip service, he can't be that naive.

I really want to see proof of this, rather than you just coming off as a Malstrom mouthpiece. When was the last time a Nintendo dev really went off the rails? Other M, and *maybe* Skyward Sword (though that contained kernels of gloriousness that appear to be cropping up in Link Between Worlds)

Most of Nintendo's recent software has seemed brutally efficient in the best traditions of the Wii games.

that was a bit much

Moderator or no, I tend to call a spade a spade. His lines tend to be straight out of the Malstrom playbook, down to the insistence that anything that deviates from the playbook is a hideous waste of time and money at best, or some unholy abomination more likely. It breeds a persistent negativity almost as bad as the Nintendo haters from the other side.

Bold 1: That's Cute.

Bold 2: That's hilarious

I'm waiting for evidence rather than mere dismissal of my arguments. You want to talk games, let's talk games. That's part of the other thing i don't like about you. You insist that things are a certain way without pointing to evidenciary support (and no, current console sales are NOT evidentiary support in favor of this "picasso" claim)

I thought he said he would resign if they kept doing badly?

He went on to say he was misquoted

So this isn't his fault? The blame for this must lie somewhere

Your spades sound more like whimpers tbh. And as a mod maybe you should be a bit more even keeled.

In any case, what would you rather a fan be? Someone who sticks their head in the sand and pretend a company they grew to love is making detrimental decisions that continue to prove a detriment to that business? Or speak out and voice constructive criticism? Being a 'hardcore' nintendo fan is worst than a hater or a critic. For obvious reasons.

I am most certainly a fan of Mals, but by no means am I a drone of his. At least not as much a drone of his as you may be of Nintendos.

You seem to be politically minded, so what is said to be the highest form of patriotism?

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

He was misquoted about his "if we miss the target, i'll resign" thing.

Fair enough. I was under the impression that he was the one who people were focusing the blame on.

I have my critiques of Nintendo, but i feel that trashing the Wii U is really not going to get anyone anywhere, since the console is what it is. Let's talk about how to right the ship rather than gleefully watching it burn so that we can later build a new ship. Certainly there are hard things to be done. To parallel American politics again, it's like all the bashing of any various environmental or business regulations: they're there, they're law, trying to get rid of them is denial of political reality, try to fix them, instead.

Calling for heads to roll at Nintendo, or even having actual heads roll, is not going to do anything. If executed recklessly, it would be worse than doing nothing.

I simply advocate for reality, rather than idealistic purity.

Part of the thing I've found not to like about you is a perspective that criticism of Nintendo is unwarranted and almost blasphemy. Console sales are most certainly evidence of games not resonating with the market. What games is there to speak of?
