Forums - Sony - Sony's Q2 FY2013 Earnings (PS3 2m / PSPVita 800k / ~$200m Loss)

Why are they putting psp+psv numbers together? PSV selling much better now. So both nintendo+sony lost 200mil but funny thing is next quarter both will make a HUGE Profit lol

Sony and Nintendo in the Black as far as their game divisions go. Dark days indeed.

I really hope they reach their goal for the smartphone segment. Even though I have WP8 and love it, Sony's recent offerings are of extremely high quality.

Oh, my new Sony phone is....crying

No more PS2 shipment is included in Q1 and Q2... so PS3 sold 1.1m + 2.0m these two last quarters.

PS3 + PS4 Forecast = 15 million

So Sony has 6.9 million PS3 to go. Does this include the GTAV bundles?

Is the loss because of the PS4 or something?

I think the reports says the Gaming Division only lost around $8 million. The losses is probably coming somewhere else. LIKE THE MOVIE side. lol!

Those software sales are incredibly high compared to past Q2 results.  Granted it obviously includes a 10-15m GTAV boost, but I wonder if they've changed how they count digital software.  It says it includes Networked software, but does that include PS1/minis/PSN games, and if so did they always count them?

Hey guys is that 800k figure Sold? It has to be!

2 millions PS3's is awesome! And they've finally stopped reporting PS2 shipment so we know PS3 shipments exactly (no more guestimating). Given the imminent PS4 release a loss of $8million for the game division is pretty good, there would be a lot of PS4 related cost in that figure. I'd say they'll make another loss next quarter due to hardware losses on PS4 but maybe the Christmas sales of PS3 and Vita can overcome that.

Overall Sony result is a bit disappointing, I'm really not sure whats going on in Pictures, they lost more for Sony than televisions! Then again, I can't think of many successful movie releases this quarter from them.
