HA, changing the goal posts I see. It's true over the life of the Xbox franchise Microsoft have not made a profit on it, the original xbox made heavy losses and the 360's first couple of years with RROD were hefty losses. Since then, over the last 6 years, they've profited. That's all that matters, not what happened 6+ years ago, it's irrlevent today.

Over the last 6 years MS have made over $3 billion in the EDD. Fact. You have nothing to back up your claim Xbox isn't making any money other than "oh they have other products in there"

Yeah, great research there bud, flawless.

C'mon. I did not change the post. Re-read my post.

You put up a fair and decent fight without delving into the inane, as so many people do causing me to loose interest and not respond.

For that you have my respect.

Edit: My argument is not with the EDD making money. It's about the xbox making money. I agree that it is but as it stands estimates put that at about 25% of EDD. Not the billions that you claimed. I will only however produce this when from a more reliable source.

Are Vita numbers still aggregated with PSP number?

I forgot to add, amazing Vita numbers considering, over double WiiU numbers this quarter ...

Given they both seem to be in a similar state it's an interesting comparison.

Those aren't Vita numbers, it's the PSP and PSV combined.

Oh, seriously? I take it all back.

Horrible numbers across the board.

There is no growth except in the Financial Services, Music and Cellphones (loss-making nonetheless even though they expanded their marketshare significantly) segment. The Financial Services is carrying Sony in order to make a profit.

Furthermore, the Games segment had an 160 million operating loss - not good. PS Vita is clearly selling below profit margins.

Nothing on total PS3 shipments yet? C'mon Sony, spill the beans already. :/ I mean, shipments should have reached 80m by now, right? Sounds like something you'd announce...

Yes, they've been doing that for the last six quarters. The last time a LTD shipment for Vita was leaked was by June 30th, 2012. It was 2.2m which puts the system about a million units below the Wii U in launch aligned shipments.

Sony's forecast for this fiscal year is 5m between the PSP and PSV. They are at 1.4m after two quarters, so there's a chance that they'll miss it. Certainly not by as much as Nintendo will miss their Wii U forecast, but Sony's projection was very low to begin with.

They will probably "bundle" the Vite TV numbers with the PSP/Vita numbers to reach that 5M sale xD

Hmm you sure it's not the last 5 quarters? Q113 I have it as shopping 0.4m after that I have seemingly (obviously now) combined figures.

PSV price cut has done pretty much nothing, PSP remains strong though in Europe, so may still hit their target.

PS3 target though they will miss, didn't realise how much sales had slumped YOY, 10m is too lofty.

I will get shredded for this, but there is a chance 360 is still ahead.

Q4 (March 31st) 2012 was the last time we got an LTD for PS3, 63.9m. Sony then forecast 13m for the PS3 that year.

If Sony hit that forecast LTD would have reached 76.9m

Last Q PS3 shipped 1.1m, making it 78m, this quarter they shipped 2m, making it 80m.

That's IF they hit their FY forecast target, we've heard nothing. Up till now I've believed they did hit that target, but them expecting 10m PS3's this FY shows me they're too optimistic.

They've often missed PS3 forecasts by 500k - 1m. If they hit 12.4m last year instead of the 13m they targetted, then they're on par with 360. 79.4m.

Fact is, Sony is still silent. They've not said PS3 is at 80 and they've not said it's overtaken Xbox 360. Until they do I'm gonna assume 360 is ahead.

Sony will not miss the opportunity to announce they're second worldwide with PS3, anyone who thinks otherwise is foolish IMO.

can anyone explain the loss in pictures please? Did a movie bomb or something?

Less dvd and bluray sales and TV lnses related stuff (networks paying less for Sony movies)... for movie bombing it was "White House Down"

I think I would add Elysium and After Earth at least to that, don't think they have made profit if we count marketing budget. Don't remember if any others.

Elysium did pretty good actually on a 115 million budget making 280 million.. marketing should have been around 50 to 70 million

After Earth had a 130 million budget and made 243 million... marketing budget was 100 million.. so its like break even/ small loss
after earth is just a bad movie so people also think it bombed hard.. but in reality it didn't bomb that hard

White House Down had a.. wait for it.. 150 million budget and it only made 205 million.. think the marketing should be in the range of Elysium..

You have to remember that not all the revenue goes back to the studio. I read somewhere (no source that I can remenber) that you want to be making triple your budget in revenue. So from that, Elysium probably just about broke even once you take into account blu-ray, dvd and VoD, but the others will have lost quite a bit

So PS3 is around 80 million exactly, very interesting.

(could be swung either way but I doubt it)

They apparently said 75m in Feb (from wiki with this source http://sg.entertainment.yahoo.com/news/sony-announce-launch-playstation-reports-170937556.html)

And since then they have shipped about 5m consoles. For comparison, wiki says the 360 has shipped 79.4m as of the end of Septmber. So they have basically sold the same and probably won't overtake the Wii
