can anyone explain the loss in pictures please? Did a movie bomb or something? |
Less dvd and bluray sales and TV lnses related stuff (networks paying less for Sony movies)... for movie bombing it was "White House Down"

I think I would add Elysium and After Earth at least to that, don't think they have made profit if we count marketing budget. Don't remember if any others.

Elysium did pretty good actually on a 115 million budget making 280 million.. marketing should have been around 50 to 70 million
After Earth had a 130 million budget and made 243 million... marketing budget was 100 million.. so its like break even/ small loss after earth is just a bad movie so people also think it bombed hard.. but in reality it didn't bomb that hard
White House Down had a.. wait for it.. 150 million budget and it only made 205 million.. think the marketing should be in the range of Elysium..

You have to remember that not all the revenue goes back to the studio. I read somewhere (no source that I can remenber) that you want to be making triple your budget in revenue. So from that, Elysium probably just about broke even once you take into account blu-ray, dvd and VoD, but the others will have lost quite a bit
