Forums - Gaming - A typical atypical review - The Stanley Parable (PC)

Interested but seems expensive for super short game with "passable" replayability.

If your PC can handle the average Source engine game (Portal, for reference), then it probably can.

I will play it then! I can run Team Fortress 2 on minimum settings so I'm sure I can handle it then . Thanks!

It's worth checking out the free demo first, because the demo is unique and independant of the main experience (and it's funny).

Also, this video should illuminate some important facts about the game:

And this will actually tell you something about the game, but won't make much sense until you play the game:

I've been meaning to look into this, given all the talk surrounding it.

Sounds terrific. Is it like dear esther ?

Too bad I'm on a shitty laptop, can't even run primitive 3D games from the 90's lol.

That itself can be relative. Someone going for 100% completion probably will get his money's worth out of The Stanley Parable (it takes time). Someone who only playes for an hour might still get his money's worth, because the game is funny.

Downloading demo Mr. Fox. Makes sense.

It could be described as a less linear cousin to Dear Esther. One might even argue that The Stanley Parable has gameplay. But yes, it's most akin to Dear Esther and Thirty Flights of Loving.

I encourage you to try the demo. If you like the demo, you will likely appreciate the tone and presentation of the main game.

Tell me what you think of the demo once you complete it. Some people get turned of by its linearity (a shame, since the real deal is definied by its nonlinearity). It's a good indicator of the game's tone and presentation, though. So if you enjoy those aspects of the demo, you will most likely enjoy The Stanley Parable.

So...i just played it. I don't know what to make of it. Certainly it was interesting. Portal esque but more self aware. Some poking fun at video games. I am just blabbering. I don't know what i just played.
