I bought my x360 controller before launch last time around. When I went by gamestop this weekend and finished preordering kz and injustice, I did check to see if they had any in stock and they did not have the controller in yet.

At first it could look a little crazy, but it's actually a good idea, for logistics, for the hype, for the fact that people buying games early will have a strong incentive to confirm their preorder or intention to buy the console, and to have the console's brand on the shelves earlier.
