Honestly I wouldn't mind this if it ends up true. Eidos makes pretty good games, and lately its their output that had kept me interested in Square Enix. Having new people with different ideas could help breathe new life into the series, so I think they should at least be given a chance.

I wouldn't mind, I think it would be interesting they've had random studios develop good/bad spinoffs before. Their best Japanese game imo TWEWY was done co-developed with Jupiter. And Deus Ex is my favorite game this generation. Which isn't completely devoid of Japanese Influence, and even has FF posters in them XD.

I think the safest bet at not stiring the pot is make it one of the the 1000 of spinoffs.  I wouldn't really be stressing over it... FFXV has to come out then this one will be years away... :P.

Devil May Cry stirred the pot, Castlevania Did, Metroid Prime Did, Punch Out was done by canadians and that turned out good. After they came out, people love Metroid Prime, mostly like Castlevania, and Quite Mixed on DmC and crap sales..

Eidos are pretty good. Not a bad news imo.

Wouldn't mind since Eidos is a pretty good developer, but I would prefer a spin-off from them.

I enjoyed most of the western-developed Japanese franchises, so hopefully this continues the trend.

I wouldn't mind them trying once.

Won't be for a while tho, 27 is a long way off

And the crisis in the Japanese game industry continues to deepen...

I don't know how this would turn out. Either it will turn out like Metroid Prime or a Starfox Adventures, in terms of execution.
