Forums - Gaming - Electronic Arts: Ten Million PS4 and Xbox Ones Will Be Shipped By March

Electronic Arts had its earning calls today, and the company’s Chief Operating Officer Peter Moore mentioned that the company expects to see 10 million next generation consoles (Xbox One and PS4 combined) shipped by the end of the fiscal year, meaning march the 31st 2014.

Moore also mentioned that the lofty goal should be achieved “easily” as production is proceeding smoothly, and that both hardware manufacturers are going to engage in an unprecedented level of marketing spend.

This seems to be in line with what was said by Sony Computer Entertainment President Andrew House, who stated during the press conference held before Tokyo Game Show that the company plans to ship five million PS4 units by the same date.

Sony have said that aim to ship 5.5m (I think), I don't think there is a figure for the Xbox

I was thinking it would be closer to 9m.
PS4 - 5 / XO - 4

that's how i think it will be as well. Unless Sony really dominates this X-mas, i dont see the ps4 pulling too far ahead, that being said, 10 million consoles being shipped in under 5 months is alot of consoles...

I think PS4 at 6 million and X1 at 4 million is not that farfetched. Hell i wouldn't even be surprised if it ended up being closer to 7 to 3 million in the PS4's favor.

I think the demand is there for both consoles.  I don't see demand being met for quite some time, and if they can both produce 5 million consoles by march, I think they can both sell 5 million consoles in the same time frame.  Sales with be determine by supply not demand well into next year.

Sony's goal is shipping 6mio end of fj.
Whoever has more PS3/X360/WiiU on shelves will win this XMas - considering Asscreed looks roughly the same on all consoles and Fifa probably is not far off either.
Imagine moms walking into shops, see people playing Asscreed on all consoles, see no difference, see $200 and $500 pricetags, walk out with PS360WiiU...

As long as they both can keep up with production then there's no reason they both can't sell 5m each. They'll both be sold out for a while

i'm new to this whole console launch thing, but when you say 'demand not being met for some time' what do you mean?

They'll both be sold out everywhere, hence demand will not be met with the supply
