Forums - Gaming - PS4 has the Superior Version of Battlefield 4

And you can show me numbers but in that video they were nearly identical as I said.

That is the whole point of the XBox One scaler that significantly sharpens the image and enhances edges. The human eye and brain has been trained for thousands of years to realise "danger ahead" when we were still hunting in the African savannas. Detecting hidden lions in grass is best with "detecting differences in the whole image we see" and that is where sharp edges come into play. Hence our brains are still wired to immediately consider images with sharp edges "more comfortable" or simply "better". This may sound stupid but often times, you just can't beat evolutionary traits. Again, crank up your tv settings when watching the PS4 vid and it will look "better" than before.

All I can say is watch the video that Ethomaz linked to and form your won opinion. I thought both versions looked pretty downgraded in multi-player. I never saw a full screen multi-player pic of either, though. In single player, both games looked pretty fantastic but not mindblowing. Lighting was great, though.

its the IGN player, the one player that is actually worse than youtube. Dont expect any visual clarity

The crushed blacks is DF fault.. here is a better comparison pic:

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

What a cluster fuck of a thread. Change the title, its complete BS. From the screenshots I've seen, the XBO version looks much better.

How can anybody ignore the flat missing textures on the PS4.

Looks nearly identical or plays nearly identical? You can't claim parity from what you've observed in a youtube video alone. Visuals are subjective the numbers are however established, 720p vs 900p, framerate gaps isn't equal to parity.

From what i have seen they look identical on a technical level.  XBO had more lights, PS4 had better draw distance, XBO was crisper, PS4 was foggy.    So yeah from a technical stand point they did look pretty much identical with small differences.  You would literally have to have them side by side to even tell a difference.

Do you think someone is going to take the XBO home and be like wow this is horrible, damn  i need those extra 14fps >.<

Then a few days later they play the PS4 version and are like OMG this is life changing.  SOOOOO MUCH BETTER!

Is that what you think?  Or do you think people will even notice a difference.  My guess is people wont notice a difference just like it has been this gen.  The only people who really care about this stuff is the people who take the console wars way too seriously when the general audience just wants to play the games.

You mean the general dude bro/casual audience nope they aren't going to care about 720p upscaled or 60fps/30fps, they won't likely even know what those terms means. Those who are expecting a higher standard of gaming from next generation consoles are however going to be disappointed.

Like I said, there is a difference between not caring and not noticing. 14 FPS is highly noticeable (you should know if you are a PC gamer as you've proclaimed), one machine running at a higher resolution while having a superior frame rate and stability is nothing that is indicative of a near identical hardware. In fact, on a PC platform 14 fps is almost the difference between hd 7870 and a Titan.

Digital Foundry Admits To Botching Battlefield 4 PS4/XB1 Video Capture

http://n4g.com/news/1382809/digital-foundry-admits-to-botching-battlefield-4-ps4-xb1-video-capature#selcomment

"The issue here is simple; Tom had a limited amount of time to capture this stuff and was not able to do so in a normal environment. If mistakes were made normally, it would be easy to go back and correct, but with the way this worked, it wasn't really possible.

Why so different? DF uses their own hardware for capturing while DICE were handing out Elgato boxes to everyone else. The DF hardware is actually much more capable but it works differently and, without the experience of working with these new consoles, I can see a situation where settings were dialed in wrong.

JackFrags used what DICE provided and probably didn't even attempt to change any settings which, in this case, turned out to be for the best."

haha so all this (except Frames Per Second) is meaningless

can't help but laugh

Jack Frags has vids on youtube of both and seem to be correct

People should actually look through the video and not just trust what a random picture shows you. When looking at the game in motion, the difference is minimal at best, if any. Why would theu otherwise not show the entire image from IGN, where it is a constant spliscreen between the two version?

how can you see the difference is minimal at best when there is a very clear gap between 2 most important things, the framerate and resolution???

From the Digital Foundry comparison:

Ground textures appear different during the campaign mode, with variations of the same texture being planted in the same spot. Neither one is especially greater in detail, suggesting these tiles are partially randomised, much like the soldier camo designs on our character's arms.

Besides the aliasing the One version even looks better, but it's more or less the same. And the huge frames gap is surely not constant, probably only in heavily action loaded scenes which are maximum a few seconds long.

On top of that this is not really the final product.

Is not comfirmed the resolutions, maybe upscaling 1080p [rumor]. For now the use for Smoother anti-aliasing on PS4 like the texture plastic and blurred , not seem real. Xone contrast is up and lights. But Ps4 resolutions is little better.
