Forums - Sony - Exclusive The Order: 1886 Screens

I like the dust particles in those screens.
TLoU and b2s also had that. I builds a nice feeling

Gears of War inspired gameplay from the looks of it.

But they left out the best part of GEoW.... Co-op.

This is why I invest in Sony. Their most reliable FIRST PARTY always has shit up their sleeve.

Well we don't know if it has Co-op yet (do we?). They have just been very mum on the whole game. I skimmed through the Game Informer and I am still astonished how they can have a 5 page spread on a game.....and still tell you nothing. This game really should have Coop tho so if it doesn't it will be very disappointing. Doesn't have to be in house, I'm ok with it only being via online.

What exactly in these screens are supposed to me impressive?

Not sure about the premise of this game, alt history didn't work for Resistance, which is why R2 went for a more sci-fi vibe and then it worked.

1. The Visuals are very stunning. The effects they are using might be debatable but nevertheless the in-game models of these characters are quite impressive. Especially as far as hair and cloth physics are concerned. The lighting is really well done as well. What they really seem to be excelling at is "imperfection" which is really what makes things look realistic, case in point, the dust particles floating in the air.

2. Alt History was not really Resistance's issue at all. The first game was actually the most popular and was the one that really emphasized the history angle. The games just lacked a certain level of polish and were never properly advertised. Not to mention with each release it was always pitted against the much different and more popular Gears of War so when it didn't recieve the same level of success it was seen as some sort of failure by outsiders and dismissed.

Sony needs to hype this game more if it's coming out next year

This game is going to have a different resolution, right?

The top and bottom of the screen will be black for "cinematic" effect I think.... I really wonder if that will hurt its mainstream appeal

^Strange design choice.

I think that will get picked apart in reviews. Gamers will not react well to it.

They seem to be taking inspiration from GEoW, but they are leaving out the best part of GEoW... CO-OP!

It is at a slightly different resolution for cinematic effect. I don't think this is a bad thing tho, and also doubt the general public will care. If you were to sift through Neogaf you would have thought it was the worst possible thing ever. The game is also utilizing a special kind of filter to give it a distinct old film look.
