Forums - Nintendo - This is scary stuff - SM3DW still not on preorder chart.

The reason Mario games have had legs for 3DS, Wii and DS is because the sales of the console naturally were high and the install base were very high. With Wii U's install base not even at 4 million, legs will not be the same level as they were for the previous consoles.

Which brings me to the point, this holiday was supposed to be Nintendo's chance to show that it has quality games available for Wii U. Apart for SM3DW, what other AAA games does Nintendo have exclusive to Wii U? Sonic didn't do that great with the critics (though Im excited for it) and we have a port of a 10 year old Zelda. But nothing that makes you move consoles. After Donkey Kong getting pushed to next year, all we have is a bunch of mini game collection games such as Wii Fit U, Wii Sports U, Wii Party U and Mario and Sonic.

I was utterly disappointed at this holiday's lineup for Wii U exclusives as it was Nintendo's one chance to shine before the next-gen consoles arrive.

So now the install base was high when 3D Land launched? LMAO. You are overrating the pre order list on vgchartz a bit. And also Wind Waker moved quite a bit of consoles.

On the one hand, VGC preorders aren't all that reliable, so I wouldn't be too worried based solely on that.

On the other hand, 3D World is #144 on Amazon, #351 on Gamestop, #235 at Walmart, #953 on Best Buy and #51 on the preorder page.  For the BB number, I'm guessing not a ton of people preorder on their site.  On the Wii U specific list it was below Transformers: Prime which VGC has at 55 copies last week in the USA.

I expect things will pick up when reviews start hitting and Nintendo begins advertising, but this is probably evidence that the Nintendo direct audience is fairly limited.

It is Mario so it will see for a while but face it the Wii U still has not really picked up they need a good holiday for sure

im pissing my pants from fear.

With only 3m-4m wii u consoles out there one couldn't really expect too much pre-order activities anyway.

The game will move consoles but the next couple months will be a rather competitive time ... let me re-phrase that .. it will be a freakin' competitive time. I have no idea what will happen but I am going call it thus.
SM3DW will be a low burner, it will sell long and slow. First week about 300-500k, LT is dependent on how the wii U sells over the coming year(s).

I do not believe this game has the aura of a SMGalaxy etc., After a year to get it right Nintendo should have two exclusive killer titles going into this period.

Then again while many think this holiday will make or break Nintendo I believe it is when the dust settles, after all the next gen consoles have been launched, that Nintendo must really turn up the burners.

We are assuming Wii U continues to see tepid sales.  Legs for Nintendo rely on people in 2016 buying a Wii U and grabbing the Mario games still.  By the end of this generation conservatively the Wii U will be another GameCube meaning this Mario could still sell 3-4 million copies.

I will say that Nintendo did miss an opportunity this year to build any momentum and 2014 will see how viable they will be against two competitors.  If each month they are finishing third next year they will really need something speical to turn the tide (is Kart and Smash enough? Shall see.)

People who buy Nintendo Console for the majority are not in the habit of pre-ordering things.

I'm not surprised. It'll still sell extremely well, because heck, it's Mario. But not appearing on the preorder chart isn't worrying.

It's true, though. Those who go on the back of Nintendo Directs are a small number, so expect a huge spike soon when advertisements come round.

And what's wrong with the Wii U lineup? Sure, we've lost Watch Dogd, but there's still Mario, Zelda, Wii Party, Sonic and others to enjoy.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Sonic seems to be tanking, though. (on the other hand, one must wait and see what he pulls in the U.S, since hta'ts the area that still favors Sonic)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Considering sonic preorders only started october 1st, I won't be surprised if 3d world's preorders only start a month before release. the same for other nintendo published games.

and you would be wrong preorders are available and have been available for weeks now

OT it is strange, only because Zelda releases the same day and that has more preorders, but then again there are way more 3ds' out there. It'll have legs
