Don't forget that Vita games sell a majority digitally. Hopefully Killzone Mercenary has good legs as it's a great game.

Is that's the case, it's better for VGChartz to find a way to track digital sales or the site will become irrelevant. Payday 2 is an example: good digital sales, bad retail. If you look at VGChartz, that game looks like a flop when it actually wasn't that bad. For PC sales, VGChartz already doesn't matter anymore.

This is very interesting and it is also what I'm thinking at the moment.

Shouldn't we make a thread for this topic?

Persona 5 on PS3, I won't need next gen!

For Vita? It is even bigger.

Vita sell more digital than physical.

You know I love Vita, but there's absolutely no point making stuff like this up about it.

Even if Vita did sell more digital than physical, that's because there's thousands more games available digitally than physically.  For something like Killzone, 1:1 sales is just absurd.  And it's only going to get more skewed towards physical as time goes on, because retailers will slash the price of physical copies (i.e. Black Friday for $20), while digital price will stay the same for months.

Not to mention that the size of the download is huge and exceeds the 4 GB cards most people have. In this case I think even 30% would be crazy. I didn't buy the game due to the size issue and I have a 16 GB card.

You will never be able to track digital sales accurately. Your best estimates really are leaderboards. Other than that, you'd have to wait for figures being released, and they only happen at milestones.

I don't think 4gb is the main memory card though, they're the ones that are languishing on the shelves of retailers. Even the pack ins with the consoles are now 8gb. But yeah, 4gb is a lot of space on a Vita card, that is why I always buy retail where there is a retail option.

Plus when you eventually move onto something else, you always have a little bit of resell value on a physical title.

Killzone beasting!

I think W101 probably lost the most money. They had to build this game from the grounds up, while with KZ:M they just had to port the engine from Killzone 3. Puppeteer is a 2D game so was probably cheap. I hope all these games improve over Christmas and that Puppeteer gets a quick port to Vita. It looks so charming, but I don't feel like playing this on my PS3. I'd love it on my Vita though. Ever since I got it I feel like the place of platformers is there, not on the big TV. TV is for different experiences.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Well Puppeteer looks like a PSN online, And I thought it was just that up until it launched. I doubt it cost much.. .

KZ merc uses the KZ 3 engine and most its assets, plus it being a handheld game probably puts its budget quite low.

W101 we all know cost more than Bayonetta did to make. Since Bayonetta wasn't considered very profitable, I think W101 would have needed around 1 million or more in sales to break even, making this the most expensive.

They should have made it for the Vita from the beginning. It is not like PS3 version is lighting up the charts. At worst it would be the same situation as it is now but I doubt it, if they would have made it for Vita it would have had much more exposure. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

I bought Puppeteerso my conscience is clear. lol. But seriously I didnt see any ads for any of those gameswhere I live (nz). But I did see a lot of GTA5 ads by sony. Though of the high sales in the EU region means this tactic clearly worked.

KillZone is back up to 13th on the UK charts.

That cheap Argos bundle must have sold pretty well over the weekend.

Really?  Nice.  Got a link?  Chart-track is error-filled for me at the moment.
