No shit?

Anime is a made up term that originated from French, really just means animation, I'll go with good ol' English since I live in the US of A, hence they are all Cartoons. Thundercats was animated in Japan, but we call it a cartoon, and it was drawn in Japanese style all the way while not being called anime, I rest my case.

Depends on anime, but yeah, some are.

Negative, there are a lot of Japanese animations aimed towards children, A LOT! The word anime is just a stupid catch phrase that people adapted to call Japanese animation cause they think French is so fucking kewl, but they are cartoons.

Depends on your definition of mature. Most animes nowadays involved either extreme violence or fan service, that imo, isn't mature. |
No, I mean like story depth etc..... for example Angel Beats I'm not sure a 7 year old would enjoy that type of show.

It's like comparing a JRPG to a WRPG, sure they are both RPGs at heart but beyond that it doesn't make too much sense to compare them.

If someone calls a cartoon an anime, I personally don't feel it's as bad as if someone calls an anime a cartoon based on the fact that when people say that you're watching cartoons, it sounds like you're watching something like Tom and Jerry. When you talk about cartoons like Family Guy or The Simpsons (or whatever), people tend to refer to them by name.
I don't even know what my point was anymore.

Considering that the form of delivery vastly defers when it comes to RPG, that line of reasoning does not stand. I can make girls role play a nurse while playing a sex game with them and call that a RPG as well. While the ways to deliver animations are generally based off a display of some form.

I'm originally from Asia and I grew up watching Japanese animation more than American animation, guess what we called them both? Cartoons. Anime is a made up word that is making American people more stupid just like the word ain't, which both of those words I use depending on the situation. I'm not saying it's not valid, I'm just saying it's stupid since people just want to feel like they are fucking cool with a new word even though at the end, we are all nerds anyways.

yes it is.. but it is a genre with-in a genre....
anime are cartoons that originated from japan...
manga is a comics that originated from japan...
jrpg are rpg from japan....
lion is in the cat family...
