That's brilliant.
Translated article for those who do not speak Portuguese:
Believe it if you will: PS4 will cost US$1899 in Brazil
The console will reach the country on november 29. Two weeks after the US launch and at the same day of the European and the rest of latin america release. In the United States PS4 will be sold for US$ 399, a price a hundred dollars inferior to Microsoft's Xbox One. Oddly in Brazil the situation went upside down: The PS4 is nothing less than R$1.800 (US$ 765) more expensive. |
I blame Sony and local retailers for this.
Our retailers do not sell anything that is game related for less than 100% in profits.
Fortunately black market exists around here. I have the money to buy the console at this price, but I won't do it because it would send a message that it's ok to try to steal us Brazilians.
Probably cheaper to go abroad and buy one.
Didnt Tretton say they wanted the price to be as similar to the US price as possible?

Not really man.
Xbone is also very expensive, it's just that PS4 price make it look like cheap when in fact it's not.
Gamers around here will just buy consoles from Chinese black market importers. Somehow they manage to sell consoles for less than half of these prices.
It's cheaper to buy a ticket and travel to the USA/Europe, buy the console there and return to Brazil. Rofl.
Nobody buys consoles legit in South America every one buys them from the grey market where PS4 will probably cost 650-750$ at launch. Damn taxes.
Ridiculous and dumb tax laws in Brazil and total ignorance of the government towards the videogame market make up for these astonishing prices.
It´s way cheaper importing the consoles than buying the official Brazilian version

Thats insane. Sony should have done whatever it could to get the price more reasonable.
Well done to MS for getting the price down so much more than Sony.
