Believe it if you will: PS4 will cost US$1899 in Brazil

In the US, PS4 has a suggested price of  US$ 399

Believe it if you will: The Playstation 4 will cost R$ 3.999 (US$1.899). The announcement was made by Sony this Thursday (17), in a statement to the press and throught the PS Blog;

The console will reach the country on november 29. Two weeks after the US launch and at the same day of the European and the rest of latin america release.

In the United States PS4 will be sold for US$ 399, a price a hundred dollars inferior to Microsoft's Xbox One. Oddly in Brazil the situation went upside down: The PS4 is nothing less than R$1.800 (US$ 765) more expensive.

The games for Sony's new console will have a suggested price of R$ 179(US$ 77). New games for PS3 cost R$ 149 (US$ 64) since june 2012. In the US, new releases for both consoles will cost the same price of US$ 60.

Sony did not provide an explanation for the high price of PS4 and it's games in the country.

I blame Sony and local retailers for this.

Our retailers do not sell anything that is game related for less than 100% in profits.

Fortunately black market exists around here.  I have the money to buy the console at this price, but I won't do it because it would send a message that it's ok to try to steal us Brazilians.
