That's the issue here... we need some confirmation.

Nintendo's press release says sales increased by more than 200%. A 100% increase is 2x. A 200% increase is 3x.

This is backed up by that GAF post that says 48k for Wii U is "waaaay low." Sounds like he's off by more than 14k.

Also I think him saying "Almost but not quite" about the PS3 being on top means that PS3 and 3DS were very close. If 185k was low for PS3, then maybe it was around 195k, and 3DS 200k.


If you had to round the sales, I bet Wii U would be closer to 100k than 50k, I agree seriously underestimated.

"Sales of Wii U hardware in September increased by more than 200 percent over sales in August"

Nintendo's PR leaves no room for confusion so either the PR guy messed up or IGN got the wrong number.

Damn straight. Pokemon X & Y were such failures that Vita sales increased 1601% that week ;)

I really cant understand why VG under tracks 3DS so heavily while over-tracking the other consoles by such a large margin. Every month it's the same thing. VG's estimate of 3DS sales come in far below the real number and then they go and adjust weeks upward to match the data.

Aren't the figures extrapolated from really small unreliable (anecdotal independent retailer) sources?
