Sorry for the newbish questions, but how can you tell your IVs are perfect? And I thought the only way to EV train in X & Y was Super Training? I tried to ST my lv81 Raichu and it was already maxed, in very awful stats :/

A man in Kiloude City (probs spelt that wrong) post game tells you your best IVs and will say that those stats cant be beaten. I got the 5 I needed =D 

EV trainig can be done through both Super Training (my preference) and the standard method. The reason it was already maxed for you is because you used Raichu. Every pokemon you defeat gives you EVs, you can reset them though with a reset bag which is obtained by tapping the punching bag in super training over and over.

Cool, thank you, think I'm gonna try my first perfect IV, full EV Pokemon. Of course it's gonna be an Umbreon (love them :3)

Just got my first poke for the semi-competative team ready.
Started working on the second by in Super Training he's doing rapid fire instead of the normal shots and its a lot harder to get points. Any tips?

If you raise the attack or sp attack via super training they do more damage as an upgrade.  Rapid fire is good for dodging though as you don't have to wait and shoot.

Once you get the routine you'll notice that you usually take out waves of white squares usually 2 leading to a red weak point square, thats when you charge up your shot and let rip.  Only other thing is you can hold it down and release when needed to set up a continuous barrage.  Actually if you use the charge shot at that time you are vulnerable as you stop before firing.
