What would the VitaU do without percentages

But this didn't help any according to Kowenicki because months ago when games were releasing it was selling about 15k weekly.

No offense but I am pretty sure I recall you telling me you did not care about handhelds at all and that you were only following consoles (hence why you were always negative on the wiiU but never on the vita). lol...  Typical.

OP: I think it's a great number but what will be even more interesting to see in the next couple of weeks will be the new baseline of the vita in Japan. After it's pricecut, it was typically selling 15k a week in Japan. I think this time it might settle at around 25k (Hopefully).

I dont. I even told kowenicki i dont care about the sales but I cared about the ridiculous posts people were having

People should calm down, if vita can hold it fpr months than it's saved.

Still think the Vita is dead in the west....if this number falls again quickly, japan won't be able to save it.

Great news for Sony. Congrats! Maube Vita and Wii U can be saved lol

It's certainly not looking great. But I still have faith that once the PS4 is out and on the market, at least SCEE will be able to free up some resources to help push the Vita more. Japan does seem to be reaching the tipping point where Vita is able t sustain itself now though. Some Vita games are outselling their PS3 equivalents etc despite the lower userbase.

I'm not talking 3DS level sales or even PSP level sales, but it should be able to carve out a big enough audience to earn itself more new titles.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

That is quite impressive. Props to the new Vita, even though I personally like the 1000 version more. I had a feeling that 1.) People were waiting for the new model to come out and 2.) Pokemon was in everyone's minds, which explains why Vita sales didn't take off immediately.

Amazing considering this was the same week that Pokemon X and Y released.

Don't worry, the 3DS moved 213,000 hardware units during the same time frame in Japan....but yeah, 60,000 isn't too bad ;)

Stop hating and start playing.

Fascinating, that's more then what the Wii U is suggested to have done in the US in a month... and yet i can't help but wonder how many of those sales were cannibalized by previous owners who just wanted the new model.

Handhelds are weird like that. My Aunt bought 3 separate Nintendo DS.

It's hard to think an improvement in hardware could make such a difference with new buyers.

And even then it's debatable if it's an improvement or not, considering the LCD screen (and longer loading times as someone said).

The steep sales drop prior to the release of the new model hints at many of the buyers being people who were going to buy Vita in the first place, but decided to wait for the new model

Edit: Already mentioned, but whatevs!

Still, hoping for the best.  The original PSP is the handheld that got me into handheld gaming in the first place.

Before hand i'd just play Pokemon games on my SNES and that was it for handheld gaming.

In Japan yes, far more reactive than any other country in this regard.
