Forums - Microsoft - Xbox One Won't Let You Use Your Real Name Online At Launch

"While real identities continue to be part of our plans for the experience on Xbox One, at launch, customers will continue to search for friends using their Gamertags," the rep told us, noting that, "Our teams are working hard to deliver a quality experience for Xbox One. This means prioritizing some features and sometimes postponing others for a later update."

hmm, i would never want to do that but if there are some who think it's good to use your real name for gaming they should be allowed to do so.

but they should be prepared for bad stuff on the internet then haha

Real names among people on your friends list should be fine, in fact just make it like steam, so you can change yoru name when ever you want, to be anything you want

Why should they worry? People play games and use their real names on Facebook all the time.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

well, at least on 360 you can change your gamertag whenever you want ( but for money lol). you can also put your real name in your bio or as motto  if you want to let your friends know who you are even if you change your gamertag.

i'm just not sure why someone would like to use his real name as gamertag because every random person would see that as well when you play online and some get mad and will try to hate on you on the interent. but like i said, if someone wants to do that he should be allowed to.

its easy, for friends it displays your real name, for people not on your friends list it displays your gamertag.

not sure, what i experienced is that some people in cod or other games are pretty crazy and would talk pretty bad stuff about you on the interent, try to find you on facebook, annoy your real life friends and so on...

yeah that would be good most of the time. but it could be bad in multiplayer matches if you see the real name of your friend and other people in your team the gamertag because it would be bad if you wouldn't know the gamertag of your friend to tell other people to go with him or whatever

something like they do in halo would help then.

I tend to avoid games that are chock full of idiots.

Last time I played BO2 I had people yelling at my friend's son to shut up because he was talking to me in a lobby.

That sucks. I was hoping they would let people put their full name, address, date of birth, place of birth, first girlfriend/boyfriend, elementary school, highschool, school mascot, mother's maiden name, first pet and why the hell not, bank account information.
