Goddamn it. I guess people don't mind paying to play online. I hate paying to play online. Just seems wrong as I've been doing it for free on the PC since Quake 2.

Well, people pay because there is no choice on the same platform (you have a XBox, there is only Live. You have a PS, there is only PSN, Wii U, Nintendo Network and so on). PS4 will be the same and people will end up just paying to play online.

Of course, on PC it's still free and probably will remain that way.

Not surprising, people prefer to use the best online platform on their consoles.

I know, but I don't mind a bit of console gaming and it looks like console gaming is slowly shifting from a product, to a product/service combo regardless of platform. I thought Microsoft were mad when they started charging for online, but who's laughing now?

Software is becoming a service and game are just a part of it. I was reading other day a report of an analyst predicting that PS5 would not be a console but a cloud service. You pay a fee and play your games, probably with just a simple hardware to receive the game data and transmit your input. I prefer my games on my hardware (I'm not a big fan of digital sales), but that probably will be the way to go.

Yeah, seems like it.

Etomaz postng negative news about Sony again, why won't you leaveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee us alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

I guess Microsoft from a business and consumer point have been proved right with their pay to play.

They probably made as much money with Xbox 360 and Live than if they had no charge but sold 150 million 360's by now. 7 years of Paying customers has made them billions.

No wonder Sony thought hang on we have to do this to.

Business and consumer? No, just business.

It's about as anti-consumer as it gets. Hey guys, thanks for paying a bunch of cash for this console which doesn't even have a built in wireless adapter, oh and btw pay us $60 a year so you can use your own internet to play peer-to-peer.

Companies are about making money - Sony included.
