Forums - Gaming - Digital or Physical Copies Next Gen

File size Is not a big issue once u factor in external hard drive options. Luckily for PS4 owners they can switch out the drive. I'll probably end up getting a 3.0TB or bigger external HD down the road once prices drop even further.

You have to factor in streaming in terms of playing while the game is downloading. Unless the campaign is 3 hours long you should be ok. Internet speeds is starting to get better where I live, 150mbs a sec so I'm not worried about how long things take. You can always delete the game once your done with it.

It just depends on re-sale/trade in value. I rather have mostly digital incase my house gets broken into/items stolen/burned down/hurricane/tornado and be able to play them again after re-download.

It's just that simple.

For consoles physical when available.
- Looks nicer on the shelf.
- Easier to re-install (HDDs slow down significantly as they fill up, better keep 50% space free)
- I rather spend my bandwidth cap on Netflix and Steam deals.

For game backups an option, but PS4 games have to be on the internal HDD to play them (I suppose). Probable I will switch the internal 2.5''-HDD with a  2 TB instead of connecting an external HDD and shuffeling games back and forth between internal and external.

Physical... 20-50GB downloads? No way.

What are you downloading?  Skyrim for Steam is only 6Gb as an example.

KZ is 50gb it was reported and many games will be larger with the next gen leap.

Get Your Portable ID!Lord of Ratchet and Clank

Duke of Playstation Plus

Warden of Platformers

Probably 50/50 like this gen.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

After a quick look in my Steam library:

GTA4 + Episodes = 34 GB

Max Payne 3 = 32 GB

The Force Unleashed = 31 GB

Hitman Absolution = 27 GB

RAGE = 23 GB

The Witcher 2 = 23 GB + Extras

Batman Arkham City GotY = 20 GB

and many others between 10 and 20 GB

PS3 Downloads:

Uncharted 3 = 38 GB

Sly 4: Thieves in Time = 19 GB

Hitman: Absolution = 18 GB

Ratchet & Clank: All for One = 16 GB

Battlefield 3 = 15 GB

InFamous 2 = 15 GB

Kingdom of Amalur = 14 GB

LBP Karting = 14 GB

Mass Effect 3 = 14 GB

Resident Evil 5 Gold = 13 GB

Assassin's Creed 3 = 12 GB

Catherine = 12 GB

Darksiders = 12 GB

Vanquish = 12 GB

Binary Domain = 11 GB

BioShock 2 = 11 GB

Dead Space 2 = 11 GB

Deus Ex 3 = 11 GB

New Games for PC, PS4 and XBO probably will get bigger. Due to the 360, developers had to try to keep the file size under the limit of 2 discs, but next gen they won't restrict themselves.

If it's done like Steam, I'll go digital. It's nice never having to worry about preserving your games for years and decades.

Depends on the deals and such. If I get the same pre-order bonuses with digital, and if digital offers similar sales prices as retail, I'll be going more digital. I have fast enough internet to download a 50GB game in about 3-4 hours. (35+Mbps = 4.375MBps = 262.5MB/minute = 15.750GB/hour) While some will say you never fully fill your bandwidth, I have found that MS downloads have always stayed very close to max throughput (Yes, I have timed it before on a 7GB game download).

At launch, it will be physical copies, but after that, digital just has to present the value that it has the potential of doing. I already am leaning towards digital for instant game/app switching and hopefully when MS brings back the family sharing plan in the future for digital content.

100% physical I prefer a hard copy, the only game I really wanna download is Octodad

Physical, especially with UK eShop pricing.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine
