Looking at Black/White.  They only had 20 exclusive each.  And the X/Y list is 18.  

So it's been confirmed that both Xerneas and Yveltall will be exclusif to their respective versions? I always thought it would be like Gold/Silver where in Gold Hoh Oh was available mid game and Lugia late game and vice versa with Silver. If I remember corectly it was the same thing for Saphire/Ruby and I have not played a game after gen3.

I thought that I would be able to catch both pokémon eventualy despite the version. I'm buying X so I thought I would still be able to get Yveltall eventualy but much later than Xerneas. I hope Xerneas end up being better than Yveltall now :S

Just different pokemon as stated above. I honestly haven't played one since Gold (which was oh so long ago), so I just preordered Y cause I think the pokemon on the cover looks better and matches my red pokemon 3ds :)
