Ugh, i can't do this without a guide. I've grown far too dependent on being able to plan my moves out well in advance rather than just winging it. Plus it's an absolute bitch to grind this Panpour i just caught (base attack is weak as piss), so i need to see about this mysterious new Exp Share...

New Exp. Share is magnifiscent. Just make sure to either do a bit of Super-Training or actually use the Pokemon from time to time if you don't want to end up with weak-ass losers. Since Exp. Share affects your entire party this time, Pokemon no longer receive EV from it. This could possibly result in  a LVL 100 Pokemon with base-stats.

I'm trying to figure out when, though. I'm still at Santalune City (haven't done the gym) and am just stuck in indecision as to whether i should commit to grinding up Panpour now, or if i just roll through the gym (which shouldn't be hard since i have the type match going on my starter) that i'll get EXP Share soon after, as well as the second starter?

Too much indecision. It's strategic paralysis.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I'd say you should roll through the Gym first and then use Exp. Share to effortlessly level up Panpour. Much less stressful and probably even faster. That's the great thing about this game - it gives you so many tools to accomplish what you want. in your case it seems to be even too many :P

My last one was Heart Gold, been planning to play Black / White, Diamond / Pearl for quite some times now.

And yes, it would be my first 3DS game.

Cool bro! This game is seriously a huge upgrade. The little things are cool, then major upgrades for casual+competitive players is definitely a game changer! That gameplay and graphics! My pideot in 3D yes pls Wo are you planning on having on your team

I've also been waiting for a major upgrade. I thought why splash out on buying Black / White and Pearl / Diamond when I can sink more time into HeartGold, I could play that game forever.

I have an epic 1st gen team on HeartGold, I've always loved the 1st and 2nd gen Pokemon, but I'm going to mix it up this time. I guess I won't know my team until I play the game.

Not brendude (seriously brendude, a Pokemon game on eBay 2 days after launch? For normal prices? What the hell were you smoking :P), but my current team:

Delphox
Lucario
Absol <3
Pikachu
Butterfree (OP as hell)
Panpour

Not the game, just a 3DS. Used 3DSs are going for more than new ones on Amazon.

Anyone else surprised at the online matchmaking?

I'have got two very easy victories juste because the levels of my pokemon were well higher than those of my opponents.

Price for 3DS's in Germany just exploded. A new 3DS costs 200€ ATM, for comparison a 3DS XL costs 190€. Pre Pokemon X/Y they were 160/190 €. Crazy.

Huh. I only had matches against my friends so far, it set the level of all Pokemon to 50 for the fight. Is it really different in a "real" match?

In the free fight section where you can fight online without being registered on the pokemon site, it's with the true levels.

You don't see the level of the person you are matched with before accepting. I just fought someone with pokemon around levels 8 with my pokemons level 45+

I just had a match with someone who told me the same thing on GAF. I hope they fix that....
