I always think that when you have to refer to % instead of absolute numbers, it's because that number is not that impressive actually. That number is just a product of an incompetent product until now.

The ipad is hip. It's just a tablet. I mean we can spin hip any way we want to. Do you remember when MS tried to make a tablet and it was unhip and royally failed? I do! Yes, the U attempted to cater to the core, but it was bad timing. The core needs to be catered to, but only once the platform had established its success. They missed the opportunity on the Wii, they should have waited to make it a reality on the U. Now, luckily they are remedying that situation. True the controller keeps the pricepoint up, but the low performance keeps it down and I wouldn't be surprised to see Nintendo pull a 3DS on the U to make it affordable and incur a small loss, all the while pushing the U to low-cost so as to return to profitability quickly. The padlet is a necessary value add. True that it being single-touch is a let-down to many consumers, at the same time that reality is acceptable due to the DS' success with similar technology. As for Japan, that's a completely different beast, but still the market for the U is at least that of the Wii, and given the popularity of 3DS software, with the U following in that pattern we can see a successful U even there. But the true win region of the U will be the US and Europe over time, where home consoles are much more saught after relatively to portables and japan. I won't say you don't make good points, but yes I see the 3DS and U resurge in the near future due to success with families, good price & good software and the holidays. The price still may be a bit steep on the U, so that may hinder a bit. But if holiday 2013/early 2014 doesn't cause the U to jump back then holiday 2014/early 2015 will. And if that doesn't then I'll say the U is dead. |
Well than lets agree to disagree, in the end only time will tell ;)

Okay, you say you took a random week because consoles are being artificially boosted due to a game... then ignore the fact wii u got a game and price drop. Also, yes if 9k got boosted by 685% then it would reach 50k... but it really doesnt work like that because percentages are harder to increase at higher numbers... you just cant compare it like that |
I was responding to where he said it's boost would still put it below regular current console sales in the UK which was false and I proved my point by taking a random but still recent week. obviously, im not dumb, the wiiU is currently under the effect of the WW bundle, but it is still nonetheless a pretty damn good boost for an HD remake. Please don't bring me the pricecut argument, the wiiU was selling for as low as 250$ in Europe for quite some time, we can all safely say that most of this boost, if not all of it, came from the WW release/bundle.
Predictions for LT console sales:
PS4: 120M
XB1: 70M
WiiU: 14M
3DS: 60M
Vita: 13M
Looks like Zelda is doing exactly what it's suppose to be doing. Hopefully the numbers will stay like this for the coming weeks, until Mario is released.

Sorry, but you think retailers can afford to reduce the price by that much when buying it at a certain price and when nintendo lowers the price for retail you dont think retail will lower it more?

I agree that it would be nice to see it continu, but I doubt it will have much more than a 2 week bump. With the holidays coming, the WiiU will obviously benefit from not only the time of year, but the added exposure from the launch of the PS4 and XB1.
Can't we enjoy a small boost? I will be sure to remark how low of a boost the Vita gets this holidays.

Im not sure what point you are trying to make here? There were a significant amount of threads this year showing that multiple retailers were cutting wiiu's price by 50-75$. And as for your second point, it all depends on it's sales. Seeing as the sales are picking up, I doubt retailers will make it go even lower.

Holy fuck the price cut worked!!! now let's hope next week they don't drop by 600%

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.
