OT: VR gaming has always been my dream. I hope Sony do something about this soon, and make it mainstream.

YES one of the best things about Uncharted 2 :D

yeh i really hope the rumours are true and Sony are also working on this!

I got a chance to try one out at Eurogamer (played War Thunder in cockpit view) and I completely agree. It was easily the highlight of the show, more so than the PS4 or X1.

It really has to be tried to be believed!

well A) gratz. glad to hear you liked it.

B) i would really like to give it a try..

...but C) as it stands now i can't imagine this taking off. maybe i just have to experience it to get it but it's just so hard to believe this idea will make it at market.

I live at the beach and we went surfing that day.

Haha, everyone envies me. Let it be known that any member of VGChartz is welcome to come stay in my penthouse for gaming, surfing and partying if they're ever in South Africa

Jeez, that's too much to handle for me.

Expect me to declare you "luckiest person on earth" as soon as I'm able to close my mouth again!

I think that's a bit of an hyperbole right there!

But since we're rolling with this; some mornings I wake up so unbelievably fucking happy about my situation that I feel like crying. lol.

Now, if I get a bursary for the next three years *fingers crossed* and my goddamn thesis gets finished (it's been depressing) and accepted, then I will feel like the luckierson on earth. That means 3 years of no-worries awesome time.

"and partying"

Wonder if anyone here is into the trance scene though :- might be a bit heavy for the average videogamer haha.

when you were but a boy....

well.... its roots and the very early days of.

Good to know :)

I'm into the darkpsy vibe and not into too much drugs. Just a psychadelic here and there. Been hanging out with hippyish people a lot. There are mad parties here in South Africa. In two weeks there's a darkpsy party over a weekend on a farm right at the beach and there's a river and it's in the mountains and I'm going to trip balls.

AWESOME to hear that someone else feels the same.

I am EXTREMELY excited to try the retail version (1080p). Survival horror, racing. etc. etc. I can't wait.

arma 3 in VR... that would be insane

WII U // PC // 3ds XL // VITA

I tried the occulus rift with the horror game, rollercoaster and the space flying game and they were all awesome especially the rollercoaster a s you could feel vertigo!

I simply can't get excited for this. I hope this will stay optional... I don't need this hardware innvation for gaming. I am perfectly fine with my standard controller. I do not need motion controls, 3d, touch controls, a second screen, secial gaming etc...

Somehow it makes me sad that while developers are trying to innovate on the hardware front the genre diversity is simply dying.

Suppose colour tv must've really sucked for you. Or those first flatscreen Trinitrons that Sony brought out. Oh, and HD TV - GAWD what a snore fest eh!

If you lump in a VR headset with "motion controls, 3d, touch controls, a second screen, secial gaming etc...", then you are simply being short-sighted.

This is not not a gimmick.

"I am perfectly fine with my standard controller."

Yeah, and so was everyone with your mindset back before analog sticks were used. And so was everyone before online gaming took off. And so you will be for all time to come until the status quo changes and you finally go with it.

Just wanted to inform you that - thanks to this thread - I spent half the day considering if I should buy the developer version of the Oculus Rift.

I don't know why, but up until I read your thread, I was somehow under the impression that the developer version was somewhere around 1600$, and that only the upcoming retail version would cost about 300$.

At 1600$, I still had a very good reason not to buy one. But now that I know it's already available at a very affordable price.... it's suddenly so much harder to resist the desire to buy one!
