Forums - Microsoft - Is Project Spark limitless? I wouldnt be surprised if this is downloaded more times than Minecraft!

This is looking insane. Ive literally seen 10 different genres of games using this thing. And the creations look 10x better than any Indie game Ive seen.

Heres another Stream video.

so this game is free?

and there is no video in the OP

So... Is it a game in itself, or is it just a collection of user-made games with the option to create one yourself?

Yeah, I think Microsoft has a winner with Project Spark. From what I've heard, you can play all of the games that others make in the basic F2P version, and you can also make basic games yourself in the F2P version, with packs of extras that you can buy to help design games. From a design perspective, it might get expensive (depending on just how much comes in a pack and how much they cost), but from a player perspective, the value is practically limitless. As you said, the number of genres is astounding, I might have seen a dozen different genres of games built using Project Spark in the demos so far. Sony has alot of F2P games coming to the PS4, but Microsoft has Project Spark, which narrows the gap considerably.

I just watched a video where a guy was making a point and click adventure. I mean seriously?????????????

2d platformers, Smash Bros, Tower Defense games, Angry Birds, 3d platformrs, FPS, Mario Kart clones.

Seriously this game alone could win the console war. Theres a reason its been in development for 4 years.

How in the world do Sony remotely answer Project Spark. Something like Little Big Planet isnt even remotely close. Like 0.000001% close.

You change everything. EVERYTHING.

I honestly didnt expect this. Even after seeing Project Spark the first time.

Its whatever you want it to be. Thats the point. Its a game where you can play someones creation and change that creation as you play if you wish. Its literally limitless.

Minecraft can be created with much better graphics for example.

Smash Bros, or Zelda. Anything. Its actually crazy. Makes indie devs useless. I bet theres loads of people out there with little money who would do waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better games than the indies currently are with this.

You're not looking very hard are you?

Here's a top looking indie game made in 7days. Looks better on my (average) laptop than ANYTHING on 360.

Or if you don't game on PC a gameplay vid:

LBP? You mean the game that inspired Project Spark? Oh

You're talking as if Little Big Planet wont expand going into next gen. I dont know why anybody would think that

Dude COME ON. GET OFF IT.

It's very clear that most of the indie detractors on here don't know much about indie gaming. My friends have a larger studio than Naughty Dog had when they made crash and have the same dev time. Gaming isn't all about having 500 dudes working on 1 game for 3 years.

If you think a 'game creator' tool is anything remotely close to creating a game from scratch in unity then I don't know what to say to you.

While I do think Spark looks impressive, your outlandish optimism is leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. You do know that there's nothing wrong with displaying measured optimism right?

Otherwise I suppose I'll just keep on keepin on nitpicking as many of your posts as I can. I do enjoy doing so for some strange reason.

Game looks very interesting and given the success of minecraft, especially on 360, this could turn out as a real blockbuster.
And lol at the downplayers already in this thread
