I mean, they probably did it for good PR, not because they sincerely care for their customers.

all i can tell is sony just went above and beyond what was needed since i highly doubt that what the guy says ms said is 100% accurate

PS stunts never change my opinion.
Its nice of them sure, but even nicer if they drop the paid online.
I mean if they can give consoles away, why not online as well.

Obviously news of this would get out.  Sony knows this, any company knows this.  They don't have to contact the press.  They have their fans to do it for them.
