I just felt I could not condone them "Dynasty Warriors-ing" their franchises every few years. I find that really appauling and decided to boycott some of my beloved franchises due to this. Letting go most of Ninties franchises was relatively easy for me.....except for one. Pokemon is a cruel mistriss of mine. Those games were seemingly made for me, as I have OCD pack rattish tendencies and the Collect them all concept is super addicting. Yet Pokemon is one of Nintendo's worst offenders to my above claim. The reuse of the same sprites from over a decade ago.....really dissappointing. I relied on Emulators to get my Pokemon Fix because I swore to not buy another Pokemone until they went full 3D.

What does Dynasty Warriors'ing mean?

If I think it means what it does.  "just small graphics upgrade each game" then you are dillusional.

Seriously just look at the big games of Nintendo.

1. Zelda - these games are all so different from each other, not only in graphics, but controls, items, art style, ect that its not even funny.  So can't be Zelda's fault.

2. Mario - lets look at its games.  64, Sunshine, Galaxy, Galaxy 2, 3Dworld.  Really the only ones that are similar are galaxy 1 & 2.  and those 2 seem to be the most praised in the series.  Well unless you want ot talk New super mario bros, but those are only 2 games.  Doubt you would boycott of just those two games, especially since it wouldn't be dynasty warrrior until the second game came out.  So can't be Mario's fault.

3.  Hmm i'm bored.  Don't feel like doing anymore.  Better to just get you to bring them up, since you would know instead of me guessing.

REAL REASON

Your a cheap ass pirate that can't get his pirated version of X/Y because the 3DS is not hacked yet.  Normally you would have an emulated pokemon you can play for FREE by the time the game is stateside.  Now you can't and have none in forseeable future, thus you HAVE to buy the game.

Sorry if I dont' feel sorry for you.

First off I would like to say...no one is asking for your pitty. Don't know why some of you are going on this butthurt tangent.

I care little for Zelda games, they don't interest me. If I were to pick out which nintendo franchises I do like it would be Mario and Pokemon, both are super bad when it comes to reused assets, small incrimental upgrading, etc. 60% of their title entries are the same as another one. I don't know how you deludely can't see that. Sure there are some that really break away from the formulas, probably why Mario Sunshine is one of the ones I actually LIKE. Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow/Green were basically the same game, diff hue, slightly diff roster. Silver/Gold/ Platinum/Ruby/Saphire/Emerald/Leaf/Fire/etc were slight boost but really the SAME game in a slightly differenst skin. Now all of these games are indeed fun, but they were just as fun the first time I played them too. Thats where the Dynasty Warriors reference comes from.

Not saying each game is suppose to completely deviate from the exisiting formula. The issue seems less apparent in other games to me because most of them have stories attached to them. Mario and Pokemon have the bare minimum amount of story so they prove harder to distract me from the very similar gameplay and graphical appeal.

As far as pirating, its not something I regularly do for everything, just the stuff I would not have spent any money on regardless. The fact that I could completely emulate an entire other console on a dif handheld (PSP) spoke leagues about the Pokemon entries. Now they have made an appropriate leap forward that I can get with, so I want to jump back into the series.

Muhaha! This was our plan all along!

Now that you have succumbed to us, do yourself a favor and buy Fire Emblem Awakening too.

Tru. If you remotely like Pokemon (like I do) you will not be able to resist FEA.

OCD mayhem

Will keep that one in mind. Is there a Golden Sun on the horizon for 3DS yet?

Sadly no. But the dev. have stated that if there is demand, then they'll make one (I suppose that's logical, but better than nothing nonetheless).

If you want to stay out of Nintendo's repetitive titles, there still is loads of titles you can play. Fire Emblem, Golden Sun, Xenoblade and Endless Ocean are a few recent examples. On 3DS you can also pick up Kid Icarus Uprising, which is pretty unique too.

"Same sprites from a decade ago?"

Uhh...

I am going to have to demand that you present evidence of re-used assets before you post anything else in this thread.

Suddenly, uses Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask as an example.
Or Suddenly, uses art style as a means of "dis re-used assets"
Or Suddenly, uses pokemon cries as "dis re-used assets, their cries shud evolve over tiem"

not that I really should have to prove anything, especially the obvious but....

This is Yellow and Silver....still using that same sprite sheets. Only thing that really got improved graphically was the use of color and object placement.

Also have to remember that they decided to make Gold and Silver backwards-compatible with the original Game Boy, so it was essentially on the same platform.
