the difference is that one is technically superior in its market but lacking good support while the other is technically behind in its market (if you consider it next gen) and also lacks good support for it.

As time goes on, I think vita will get better than the wii U will. WiiU will probably get worse since most of the third party games its getting now is because developers are scaling the games according to PS3/360. once next gen games stop releasing on ps3/360, most of them wont bother making a special version for wiiU, or nintendo will have to pay a premium for it which they wont for every multiplatform game....which still wont look as good as ps4/xb1

I still cant figure out how black ops declassified went so wrong on the vita (supposed to be what sells the vita, turned out to be lowest rated vita game on metacritic), and why despite vita's power and RAM, fifa is just a kit update (even on the 3ds).

on the bright side, we still havent seen big titles like GTA, god of war and gran turismo pushing the limits on the vita so theres still hope for that whereas the wiiU is already as good as it gets.

So it wont get PS4/Xb1 games when its inexpensive to port to the machine and engines are scalable and the last gen stuff is all DX9 games?

Right. I swear some people dont think.

go to the monster hunter vita threads. according to most nintendo fans, ports cost a shit load of money and are not worth it. I didnt think because I assumed they were correct.

nah seriously, some games were made for PS2/PS3 and Xbox/360 but most of them eventually stopped appearing on the older systems. MGS4, GTA4, COD4, uncharted drakes fortune were PS3's greatest games at the beginning of its life, none were on PS2 despite its massive install base. some things just are not possible on old hardware.

Bold: Whether or not this was directed at me, I never said that.   I don't know how many people did.  However, ports do cost money and that is the truth.

A lot of people implied it.

They cost money if changes need to be made like if they need to tone down a game then they need to decide which physics/objects/textures to remove, change animations/graphical effects accordingly and so on. but if you have a game already running on a system and you want to port to a more powerful system then theres no design choices that need to be made. They only need to make sure theres no bugs so yes it costs money but for the largest publishers in the world, its an insignificant amount and the retuns easily make up for it.

I wouldn't say so, really.  I would say maximizing potential profits a Vita version maybe could have... just as it would to port it to every device you can.  However, they were looking at if the game would sell modestly.  To get in as much guaranteed money as they can would mean to stick to one platform.  If we say bringing it to the vita would result in a slight boost in sales (the 3DS version selling less than it would have if it became multiplat), that doesn't exactly translate to those extra sales making it more profitable.  The port itself also may not cost very much, but there are a bunch of other costs besides making the port itself.  Costs that you don't see.

It's fun picking on the Vita

Prob both, but more so the vita. That system prob won't do much overall. The wii u will prob end up as a disappointment in sales.

No, no, no the entire console industry is doomed because so-called experts have been saying this for years ;)

But seriously I worry more about the Vita since most of its games are stuck in Japan and I always have faith in Ninty to turn a dire situation into profits.

I don't think being pessimistic about how much further developers can push the Wii U hardware is "not knowing much about Nintendo". It definitely didn't deserve the response you gave him.

even if im most optimistic about its hardware performance, I still cant see people picking it for multiplatforms over the ps4. Maybe Xb1 because that costs significantly more, but I think people will pay the extra for the PS4 version of the game.

That's not what you said, however. You said "the wiiU is already as good as it gets." That has nothing to do with multiplats, but with graphical output. Do you honestly feel that the Wii U's potential has been tapped?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
