Forums - Gaming - I Played The Battlefield 4 Beta And...

I don't know how to feel.

The game has a sluggish feeling, much like previous Battlefield titles. It's a bit too slow, and the map was way too big. I was in a match on that one big map and there were only 2 enemies on the other team. It could just be server issues, but there's more.

The texture pop-in was atrocious. Actually, there was a part when I was standing and a bench popped in when I was two feet away and I ran into it and got gunned down. I also noticed some screen tearing. The map was bland too, it had no remarkable locations so I would remember where I was going, it just all looked like buildings to me. The only thing I enjoyed about playing was using my parachute and parkouring over benches, etc. It made me just want to go and play some Mirror's Edge.

Not to mention the gameplay was as basic as it gets. Simple mechanics such as "Run and shoot" can be applied here. People praise battlefield because it is some sort of "realistic strategic shooter" but in my eyes it's just another shooter. I went 10-1 on a match playing the objective by running around and aiming and shooting, none of it felt strategic or realistic. The vehicle driving felt way too imprecise, it was slippery yet it felt really tight, it was extremely hard to get used to.

However, the game was fun at some points. When I got into a game with my friends it was a pretty good time, but then again, it was mostly because we were diving off buildings and firing random bullets and just being purposefully bad at the game.

I don't know if I can judge it because it's a beta, but as of now the game is about a 6/10. It's an uninspired and unpolished game, but we'll see how the final product stacks up. Again, all these problems I'm having could be due to the servers, but still in terms of gameplay that would only boost it to a 7/10.

Boringfield 4?

Joke aside I'm reading impression and it is not good even the PC version.

Horrible.

I've only played it for about half an hour, so I wouldn't really be in a position to assume anything about it.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

The beta is well optimised for PC. That's about the only positive I can come up with.

I don't play military shooters much, but it seemed okay.

My disappointment was the graphics. It looked awful on the 360. Very blurry textures and objects in the level load up very slowly.

Seems like it running below 720p on 360... 580-660p... and there are big issues... I think we will the same on PS3 next week.

I would presume its 720p, maybe reviews will clarify that.

I just came off playing GTAV which has massive detailed enviorments. Yet BF4 can't seem to load objects properly inches from your face. Madness!

I'm hoping there is some sort of texture pack that gives sharper textures in the retail release. Because that's unacceptable, its N64 quality at some places.

Jesus man, you are a monster, how can you platinum all these games? Spec Ops was pretty hard.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

I play a lot

To be fair I think in a 0-10 hard scale Spec Ops is a 7... WipEout HD, Street Fighter IV and MGS2 were my hardest Platinum... I tried Ninja Gaind 2 but I can't get Platinum (yet?).

Killzone 2 is harder than Spec Ops but I don't have the Platinum due the online part... you have to be in TOP 1% during a week.
